We had to store the hay in the horse barn.  We did buy a building to store our hay in, but at this time we are still waiting for them to call and deliver it.  So far I still have two open stalls, but it looks like I won't have a horse barn by the end of this weekend.  When and if the hay barn gets delivered, we will be storing the equipment in it for this year.  Hopefully if we fill the stalls, we will use that hay first for feeding and hopefully I won't need the stalls for a while.  I usually don't put the horses in unless we get some nasty weather.   One thing nice though is that we should not have to buy hay this year and will have enough of our own hay to feed all winter until it is haying time again. We usually end up buying hay every year.  I will give up the horse stalls if it means no buying hay!

Hope you all had a great day.

Not very often that we see this out on the highway out in front of the house!   We have horse people around but not a whole lot that are ones who ride around our place.  We do live next to a pretty busy highway where people like to drive 60 miles an hour down our road.  It was pretty nice to see them though.  I believe they have driven by our house only one other time.  I wish I could of had the time to talk to them when they went by, but we had company and we were in the middle of getting the bucket put back on the tractor and I wasn't in any shape to be social at the time. ( who me,NOT social!)

Hope you all had a good weekend.  We did get hay baled this weekend, over 400!

The son mowing the hay, and it was his first time mowing by himself.   Boy, is he growing up!  In the  last picture his girlfriend is riding with him.  I was really hesitant in letting her ride, so I said just for one round then  she had to get off.  I stayed out and made sure the son paid attention to what he was doing and made sure nothing happened.    He did a pretty good job for his first time.

My arm is doing good, but it has been pretty hard getting some of my movements.  The physical therapist said I need to work a little harder on some of the side movements.   I need to get things stretched out.  It has been pretty rough going but I will get there.   The pain is still bad at night but during the day it seems not to be as bad.  I still have to sleep in the recliner, tried to sleep in the bed last night but ended up still down in my chair around 1 in the morning.

School starts on the 5th of September.  I have all my books and I am pretty much ready for the semester.   Hope you all have a great day.

A Chip Off the Old Block

The son loves to work with the old forge.  He decided that he wanted to make a boot Jack.  He did not get it finished but he sure did have fun with it.  He is always asking dad if  he  can get it out and work with it.  Maybe I should give him a few projects to do!

Hope you all had a great day.

Bucket List

The hubby had to do some welding on the frame that holds the bucket on the front of the tractor.  The fork lift on the other tractor sure comes in handy when you need it!  The husband sure was smart when he took the forklift and put it on the tractor! Hope you all had a great Monday.

HappyBirthday

The son is 18 today!  He is the best son ever, he takes care of his mom when his dad is gone.   He is funny, sweet (not that a boy wants to be known as sweet), has his dad's personality (not always good), and will go out of his way to help someone if they need it.  We are very proud of him and we wish him the best as he grows into a man!   Happy Birthday, Kegan, we love you with all our hearts!

I realized last night that I have not taken any sunrise or sunset pictures this year from the front of the house.  I rushed outside last night after the rain had left and the skies started to clear and took a picture of the sunset!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

A Senior!

The son will be a senior this year and I had to take him to the school for school pictures.  I decided that I would let the school photographers take his picture for the year book and the class photo but I wanted to make the attempt to take his senior set of pictures myself and take them to have them enlarged or have wallets made myself.   I thought I would get your opinion on how I did.  These are just a few that I thought turned out the best.   I have never been one for taking people pictures, I seem to do better with nature pictures.   Hard to believe that my youngest will be a senior!  He also turns 18 this Saturday!

Not much has really been going on here at the farm.   I don't get to do a whole lot being as I am not allowed to be lifting anything heavy.  The kids have been great with doing chores.  I miss it though.  I will go out and grain the horses!  I tried pulling weeds one handed out of the grape arbor yesterday and I think I left more than I pulled!

The hubby went to take his handgun safety course last night.  Poor guy drove four hours home went to the class that took two and a half hours and then found out that all the paper work I had to copy off the internet are not being used anymore and that more restrictions are being put into place!  NY is one of the worst states when it comes to owning guns!  They have different laws from state to the county laws here in New York.  They like to place lots of restrictions also!   It is a real pain, I guess that is true if you believe in the right to bear arms.   Which we are!

Hope you all had a great day.

Totally Me!

Saturday we went to the hubbies company picnic.  They had food, drink, music and games.  You could get your pictures done and I couldn't resist having mine done.  I totally think I can do the tough chick role :)  I was surprised that I was able to talk the hubby into getting our characters done.  It was a great day for one but just a bit too far to go for it.  I think we will pass next year.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Sunday Stills (summertime)

I think one of the things that says summer more than anything else, is the color green, rather it be the grasses or the the trees sprouting their green leaves!  Then you have my garden pond area, and putting my house plants out on my back porch for the summer!   I can't leave out the fishing up on Peck's Lake on the pontoon!  I caught the largest fish this year, a 17 inch small mouth Bass.  Last but not least, I can't leave out one of my favorites and that is the Hummingbirds.  I have four feeders for them and they have been going through their feed in a week!   Hope you all are having a wonderful summer!

Have a great day!

These are just a few of the wild flowers that I saw and took pictures of.  The second one is Chicory and I think it is one of my favorite!  This last one, I have no idea what it is just that I thought it was pretty.  I also came across a dead tree that only the trunk was left and the Woodpeckers were having a field day with putting holes in it!
We are off to NJ for the hubbies company picnic, they are having it at a lodge that has tons of different activities, most of which will be a little hard for me to participate.  It will get me out of the house and that is good enough for me!  The boring part is the long four hour ride down and then of course the ride home.  Hope you all have a great day!

Went for a walk the other day out on the fringes of the field,  but before that I let the horses on the other pasture.   I figured that I would rather walk and get some exercise on my own land rather than going to some walking path in town.  We have some great scenery and maybe I will see some wild life,of course that didn't happen.   We don't really have that much property that would hold a lot of animals.  I did take a lot of pictures of wild flowers though, and  I will post those tomorrow.

The horses don't have a whole lot of grass to graze on, the rain hasn't been plentiful enough to get the grass to grow fast enough.  It doesn't help when I only have three very small pastures to rotate them on all summer long.  They were excited to get out on the better grassed field again.

Not much going on.  We are finally getting much needed rain today.  It does look like the rain is not going to let us get the rest of our hay made though.  We will get more rainy days rather than dry days.  Which doesn't leave much time to get hay made in between the wet and dry days.    Sounds like we are getting plenty of  rain but the thing is, the rain we get, isn't really all that much to last long enough; but get just enough to prevent making hay.   If that made any since to you.

So, that pretty much makes up my last couple of days.  Adding in the physical therapy that I have twice a week.  Yes, you are right, no pain, no gain.  I would really rather not go through the pain though.

In the pictures of the horses, you see that Sirocco has his mask on but Annie doesn't.  Sirocco loves to take her mask off and so far he hasn't figured out how to get his off yet, but if he could it would be off.  I can not keep Annie's on because of Sirocco (little piss ant!)

Hope you all have a great day.

The stitches are out and the next step is 6 weeks of physical therapy.  I start on Thursday and until then I am trying to work on just being able to get my arm moving again and that is not an easy thing.  The worst thing is not being able to do my day to day chores that I enjoy doing.  I did feed the horses grain today.   Boredom is setting in.

Went to get my books for college.  I start school on the 5th of September and I am actually looking forward to that.  I have English, business law, principles of management, and accounting.  I think I will like my classes except for English that is!

The son has his first girlfriend and turns 18 on the 18th of this month.  I ask myself where did the time go!  He will be senior and then of course the daughter turned 22 a week ago.  Doesn't seem possible that much time has gone by!  Next thing I know the hubby and I will be on our own!

Hope you all had a great day!

Monday, August 6, 2012

The hubby bought me roses Friday and told me to hurry up and get better!      He is just so sweet.  I don't get roses often but when I do  I cherish them!

Things are getting easier, the worst part is having to sleep in a chair and doing things one handed, like typing!   I go back to the doctor today and get the stitches out and find out what the next step in the heeling process is.

The son and I was coming back from getting my hair done and we saw something running across the road.  We thought at first it was a dog and then realized it was a large cat (mountain lion)!  Talk about being shocked,  if I would of had a camera I still would of not gotten a picture because he was moving pretty fast with a rabbit in its mouth!    The DEC says that the state of NY does not have the lions any more,  wrong,  I sure wish I could of gotten a picture to prove them wrong.

Hope you all have a great day.

Reach for the Sky!

One thing about being one armed is I get to be chauffeured around!  Our lovely daughter drove me to do my errands!  I am going to miss all this attention!

So, as you can tell my day consisted of running around doing my weekly grocery shopping etc.

Other than that it has been busy boring day.  Hope you all had a great day.
