Ears

Well, today was spent running around doing appointments.  Found out that I have a cyst on the inside of my ear by the eardrum that needs to be taken out (Cholesteatoma).  Which means surgery, yay.  Then had to take the dog to the vet for a follow up.  Jake has a skin infection that is under the skin.  We have been giving him antibiotics and anti inflammatory for a couple of weeks now.  He needs to take them for another couple of weeks.   So, by the time the running was done it was after 4 this afternoon.  Then it was chore time and now it seems like I did not accomplish a darn thing!  I really hate spending my day running, when there is so much that needs to get done.  It was too, nice of a day to spend it in doctor offices!

Not much else is really going on here at the farm.  Sirocco is settling back in like he never left.  I did ground work with him tonight, not really enough time to do much else.  Sad face :-(   The chickens are laying 10 eggs a day, thank god for the farmer that loves fresh eggs!   We are getting ready to do our turkeys.  Yum, fresh turkey for Thanksgiving.  The farrier comes tomorrow, have to make sure that Annie is in her stall, she doesn't like to be caught, unless its me ;).  She is better than she used to be but she can still be very standoffish, if she has one of her days.

I have one of the best farriers, he calls me the night before he comes and if I can't be here; he will do the horses without me.

Have a great night.

He's home

Yes, Sirocco is home.  He came home last night in the nice chilly, windy evening.   I decided to give him today to get used to being home.  Tomorrow is another story, it is time to get some ground work, and saddle time.   The daughter is going to ride Annie, while I ride Sirocco.  It will be nice to have two horses that can be ridden.  I don't mind riding all by myself, but it is always nice to have someone along.

The weather is supposed to be reasonably warm for the next couple of days, but wait until this weekend.  We are supposed to have a high of 45 degrees.  Brrrrrr, it sure is going to change fast when November is here.

Have a great week.

Fall

I was able to capture some of the fall colors before they disappeared completely.  We had some wonderful colors this year.  It is a shame to see the rain taking the leaves off the trees.  It won't be long and we will be looking at a brown landscape and barren trees.  I think the turning of the leaves is one of the most beautiful thing that mother nature lets us experience.

I have been out in the barn trying to get things ready to start new projects.  I finished getting a warp done for the weaving of my fathers throw.  I have also been getting a warp ready to make more towels.   We were going to set up the outdoor stove so, that it would heat the barn also, but decided that it would be cheaper to just get a small pellet stove.   I will only need it during the winter months, and it shouldn't be as expensive.   I used an electric heater last year and my electric bill went through the roof.  NOT THIS YEAR!

Hope you are having a great week.

Different

I was coming home from NJ a couple of weeks ago, and glanced in the sky to see this.  At first I could not figure out what the heck I was looking at.  It was a pretty cloudy day but the sun sure was trying to get its rays to come through though.  It was the same time that I saw this pick up truck that had something in the bed of it, and it filled the whole bed of the truck.  It was a pumpkin!  I had seen one on the TV that was that big but never actually saw one up close before!

Some of the things you see while driving.  Hope you have a great week.

Done

Yes, the table runners are finally done!  They turned out just beautiful.  They are for sale too!  Remember, Christmas is sneaking up on us.   Now it is time to go out in the barn and get the next set of towels on the loom.  I have a very nice person waiting for a set.   When I put a project on the loom, I always make sure that I put enough on to make extra.  Usually they will be different colors and if possible a different design.

It has been one of those rainy days where all you want to do is stay in and enjoy a good book.  I see now though that the sky has started to clear out a little bit.  Hopefully for the rest of the day.  We shall see.

Hope the rest of your day goes well!

Fast Moving

This morning, the clouds were moving along pretty quickly.  I had to take a video of how fast they were actually moving.  It was a warm day again today, but cloudy.  The fall weather starts this weekend.  It is not supposed to get above the 50s.

Sirocco is coming home this weekend.  It will be nice to have him back home.  It is so much easier to spend the time with him when he is here and not someplace else.  But Brian is just a phone call away and he said if I have any problems he will come over and help.  I just need to let Sirocco who is the alpha in the bunch!  ME

I spent some of the last couple of days cutting off the leaves of the Iris's and the Hostas.  Getting ready for the winter months.  Lots of clean up left, but it will get done!  I have been trying to get the table runners that I finished done.  I have the sewing all done, now it is just getting the ironing done.   I will take pictures and put them up for sale on the website.  I will also, post them so you can see how they look.

Hope you are having a good week.

Not my kind of moon

I still have not mastered taking pictures of the moon, even in the daylight hours!

It has been a busy week.  I went to NJ to pick up more cobblestones with the big truck.  I have been trying to get my table runners off the loom (finally did), then of course, trying to get the hubby new hearing aids, and new glasses.  The normal day to day stuff of running the farm.  Seems to never be enough time in a day.  Now is even worse, since the days are getting shorter and shorter!

It was a beautiful, balmy 75 degrees today.  I am on my way down to get more saddle time on Sirocco.

Hope you have a great week.

What a Crock

Yes, the sauerkraut was done in the crock for 7 weeks.  It actually was done last week but I was too busy to take the time and put it up.  I finally got to it today.  I got 14 pints and 9 quarts total.  All from our own cabbage and just a few more from another gardener.   Yesterday, I was able to get some brussel sprouts to freeze and a few more green peppers and even a few more tomatoes that the blight didn't get too.

Hope you had a great day.

Sunny days

I think the best part of the day, is when I go outside to do chores.  When the sun is shining and you see the nice sun rays beating down, it is such a great way to start a day.  Especially, if you are lucky enough to live on a farm and out in the country.  Nothing beats that kind of start to a day.

Hope you have a great week.

Mother's-in-law

Tongue that is.  Mine is in full bloom.  I love to see this plant bloom, because it doesn't bloom that often.  When it does bloom it is like a burst of stars.  Not a whole lot of color but it sure does look pretty among all the tall, green leaves.

I am on my way to getting the tires rotated on the big truck.  I will be then coming back and going to the barn and finish some table runners that I have been doing.  I will be putting them on the web site to sell.  Then, I have to start a throw for my dad, who is trying to get through chemo therapy.   Then, I will be putting a towel warp on so that I can weave towels for a customer and blogging friend.

Hope you all have a great day.
