I also think the more you do it the less fearful you will be, just go out and do stuff with him, take him out and in the yard and don't let him try to push you around, you can do it and the more you do and the more often, the more confident you will be.<br />They always test you, even the super nice broke ones, they just give in easier Crystalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18035210092855895218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3525653003665055805.post-33988209262133531612014-09-29T11:36:32.973-04:002014-09-29T11:36:32.973-04:00Love that you are riding him! Even if he already knows that stuff, he doesn't know it with you. If you get a chance to go to a clinic with him, or if your trainer can take the time to go over it with you, perfect. He needs to know that you can control each and every part of his body; if you control the feet you control the mind. You bet he can feel your fear, and of course that means he won't trust you. In herd mentality, horses don't follow the fearful horse, they follow the brave and dominant lead horse. So if you show leadership with him it will begin to build his trust of you, and vice versa. A Parelli or Clinton Anderson clinic will help, or better yet, Mark Rashid. It's always a journey with horses! The neat thing about doing the ground work is that you can literally see the changes happening in your horse. Kai was fearful and non trusting when I got him back, now he is willing and the trust bond has really improved- not 100% yet but very much better. Horses seem to be able to "remember" what gets them out of "work" ...keep at it! Just keep working with him...it will come:)Far Side of Fiftyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07995757632158408442noreply@blogger.com
