Sirocco

He is doing well.  He still has a ways to go yet.  Brian says that he will start to canter then all of a sudden he stops, he won't canter for long.  Then he still has to kick the heck out of him or use a tap on the rump to get him to move.  He is coming along.  Brian even hosed him down and he stood right there for the water bath!  I could not believe that.  He has come a long way, when I first took him to Brian, he didn't have any idea what to do.  Brian would saddle him and he would not move at all when he tried to get him to walk.

Hope you have a good week.

Happy Anniversary

As I was going through pictures, I realized that I don't have one single picture of us together!  How bad is that?  We have just a few that were taken at events that I don't have access to.  We don't seem to take a lot of family pictures, which is a shame.  I think I better start rectifying that.  So, I am posting just a picture of the hubby and saying Happy Anniversary to him for putting up with me for the last 27 years of our married life and the last 29 years of being together!  I love you and thank you for taking care of our family.  It has been a wonderful 27 years, there have been a few tough ones, but the good ones outnumber the bad!

Nothing like family!

The top picture is from right to right to left, my sister, my mother and I.  The second picture if of my mother with the kids and I.   I went to visit my mother everyday, she only lives a block away from my sister!

Not much going on.  I have been trying to do work out in the garden pond area and weaving.   I am making progress.  I might get the pond done before the end of the season!

Have a great day.

Vaca

We went to the lake and rented paddle boats.  We had to go over a covered bridge, which was pretty neat.  The road going into the lake looked almost like New York.  Lots of trees and you couldn't tell you were in flat land area!  The corn in Illinois is already about waist deep.   Here in upstate New York, most of it is just barely above your ankles!   We had a lot of thunderstorms while we in Illinois, once we were headed to get pizza from my favorite pizza place and the skies looked so bad that I told my sister to go back to the house.  I forget that we don't see the storm clouds come in from miles away here in New York like you can in Illinois!  It almost looked like tornado weather to me!  I am not used to being able to see from miles away!

Hope you are having a great day.

I am back!

My trip to Illinois was fantastic!  My sister and I had a great time together.  We went to Lock 13 of the Mississippi River in Fulton, Illinois.  We actually got to see a barge, that was docked, and then saw a dining boat (Celebrity Bell).   We got to watch the locks open and close, along with raising the water.  My sister had told me, that it was the first time she went, that they actually had a boat go through the locks!  We went to a water park and all of us ended up with sunburns.  We forgot the sun block!   My sister and I went to a bluegrass festival (my first) and it was fantastic.  I loved the music!   We also went to Galena, which is a tourist trap but we had fun looking in the shops.   We also went on a lake and rented paddle boats for an hour and paddled around the lake.  It was fun and I will sure miss my family and especially my dear sister, who showed me a fantastic time!  The week ended all too soon!

I was glad to be back home, it is nice to see the family, but I always love to come home to my own bed and to my hubby.   I think he missed me a lot more than I missed him.  He is not used to coming home to an empty house!   I am used to being home without him if he has to be gone for more than just a week, but not the hubby!   He isn't used to coming home and not seeing me.   He was pretty lonely those two days, but the niece and nephew came over and had dinner with him on Saturday and he sure was glad to have the company.   I wonder if I will be able to leave the next time without him?

Now it is time to get back to work, lots of garden to get weeded and need to get the pond area done!  Of course, the horses need some attention along with trying to get Sirocco back home where he belongs.  The trainer is going to start working with Sirocco and I before he comes home and then some more when he does get home.  We have hay that needs to be done and of course a million other things that get done during the summer months, along with trying to get the weaving done.  I am headed down to get my new business cards!  Can't wait to see them.

You have a wonderful day.

Happy Father's day to all the Dad's out there!

We decided to take the hubby and go to the gas engine show.   It was a lovely day for it.  They had just bout everything you can imagine.  The pictures were taken by the hubby.  I got him a new camera of his own, so that he can take pictures when he is on different jobs.  He decided that he would get the hang of using it by taking pictures at the show.  he did a pretty darn good job of it.

Well, tomorrow is the day we leave for Illinois.  I am a little worried about driving across country without the hubby.  I have never gone that far without him with me.   Just once, but that was with two other people that were the same age as I was.  I am taking the kids and they are going to help drive.  (that makes me nervous just thinking about that!)   They are pretty good drivers but they haven't really been driving all that long.  I think that I will have to make sure I do most of the driving, or make sure I take a nap while they are driving.

I hope you all have a great week.

Peekaboo

The guys built some knew bee boxes and Kegan decided to play peekaboo with me!  We got a couple more hives over the weekend.  We now have four hives, we lost a couple over the winter months and had to replace the ones we lost.  Everyone seems to love the honey and we are just about out.

I just finished my rugs and they are being washed and as soon as they are done I will post pictures of them.

Not much else is going on.  Next week I will be gone to Illinois to see the family.  I don't think anyone out home as Internet, so there will be no posting until I get home.  The hubby is staying home, (he has to work).  The kids are going, which will give me two other drivers!

Have a great day or evening!

Dog Fishing

Jake loves to watch us fish, if you look close in the first picture you can see that, he is watching the bobber in the water.   Matt would bring his line in and Jake would watch him the whole time.  If a fish was caught, he was right in the action.  I would go to the end of the dock and use a fishing lure and he would watch me reel it in every time.   He also loves to go out on the boat.

RJ doesn't like the water much and he could care less if we caught any fish!

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Fruit

Oh yeah, we have strawberries!   Some one told me that the red flowered ones don't produce but they were wrong!  Our strawberries are doing great.  We have to do a little more watering though, being as it has been reasonably dry.

I have been going out and walking for three miles everyday this week except on Monday.  I am feeling a lot better.  I would love to lose at least 20 lbs.  I don't think that will happen, but I will be happy to lose whatever I can; as long as I don't go up in weight, I will be ok with.

I finished a warp of rag rugs today.  I will post pictures as soon as they are finished. (hem, washed etc.)

Have a great day.

Friday at the lake

Friday at the lake consisted of a lot of storm clouds and different formations!  I took the first two pictures and the hubby took the last two pictures.  We actually took tons of pictures and it wasn't easy trying to pick the best ones out of all the pictures!

More tomorrow, hope your day was a good one.

BBQ

The pork and the baked beans were a big hit!  It was the first time doing this for other people.  We have only cooked for the family.  Everyone was impressed and happy with the way it tasted.   Peck's Lake is already talking about us doing some other functions for them!  I have a picture of the pork when it was done, but forgot to take a picture of the beans when they were done.  It was the first time I made beans from scratch and not out of a can!

We got to the lake Friday and it was a constant bout of rain showers.  It didn't rain constantly but we really couldn't take the boat out.  Saturday, of course was our cooking day, and we didn't get to go fishing that day either being as we didn't get back to camp until it was almost dark.  We were pretty exhausted by the end of the day.  Sunday was beautiful and we did get to go out fishing on the boat for half the day.  Then it was pack up and load up the vehicles and head on home.   We were all pretty tired by the time the end of Sunday rolled around and everything was put away.  I think I am still recovering today!  Lot's of laundry now, and of course, still some things to be taken care of.

Hope you all have a great week, and tomorrow I will post some pictures at the lake.
