Whatcha doin?

Just a little blurry but these are the next ones in line to fill the freezer next spring!  We ended up with over 294 pounds of ground beef out of the last two and of course some really nice steak (my favorite) and roast and we will be eating on that for the next 12 months.  We  also give some to family for consumption.    I had a ten pound roast saved out for the family reunion in July.

I am back down in Jersey with the hubby this week.  I told him being as our anniversary is Wednesday, I was not going to spend it by myself so I came down to spend the week with him.  It is our 25th this year and I refused to spend it by myself!  He says he will take me out for dinner.

Hope you all had a great day!

Sunday Stills (Brown)

All different shades of brown, but good ones, except the rust, brown on our stock trailer!  Annie's brown is almost more of a tan than brown.  But the best brown as far as I am concerned is on the horses!  Gotta love them!  (at least I do!)

Hope you all have a wonderful day!  It is sunny and beautiful today.

This is not a picture of my horses or any horses near by.  Just one I found on the internet and I am using it to say good morning to all my wonderful bloggers and I hope you all are having a great weekend and are healthy and happy!  Have a wonderful day!

My hero!

The son found this little fellow below the nest.  I was able to take a couple of pictures before he put him back into the nest.  He was so tiny.

Pretty warm this afternoon.  Tomorrow and Thursday supposed to hit the 90's.  I like warm weather but I prefer not to be that hot.  Not much you want to do when it gets to be those temperature's along with the humidity that comes with it.  Did stuff in the house away from the heat of the day.

Taking my time going through the house, finally done with the upstairs and took 7 bags of cloths and other crap out.  Then I went through the bathroom and cleaned that out and threw stuff out that I haven't even used in over a year or more!  Ugh!   Will start in the kitchen tomorrow.  I think I will be getting rid of a lot more in that room than any other room in the whole house!

Hope you all had a great day.

Work and play go hand in hand!

We mowed just a third of the field because of time restraints.   The kid was sick and couldn't help us, so the hubby and I baled the hay and then we called the nephew and begged for his help!  So he made it over in time to help us unload the hay.  Thank you Alan!!  We started about 9 yesterday and finished about 5 last night then it was time to play!  We took the truck out to see how well it handles in the mud and as you can see it handles it like a pro!  I forgot how much fun you can have with a four wheel drive.   Who says your too old to party!!  Not me.

Hope you all have a great day

Hay, how are you?

Yes, we are going to finally have a good weekend to get some hay done.  Even though we really don't have the place to store it.  The hay barn hasn't even been delivered yet.  So, being as the horses are outside 24/7 right now we will be using two of the three stalls to store what hay we do this time.   Hopefully by the time we do more haying we will have the barn here and up.  The son is going to do the tedding today.  I am glad he is old enough to do the work now to help out.  That means I don't have to get on the tractor.  I like to do the work, but lets face it, if I don't have to that is even better!

Hope all the fathers out there have a wonderful fathers day tomorrow!  We will being having the in-laws over for lunch tomorrow.  Supposed to be a wonderful day for it.  I think I will be using the fire pit to cook in the cast iron.

Have a great day!

This is just a few pictures of the pond area this season.  One of my favorite places to sit and read and relax when I can get the chance.

Not much went on today, just went to physical therapy and had some tires changed on different rims so we can mount them on the new, old truck.  Other than than not much.  Raining again and calling for 1 to 2 inches of rain. The good thing is that it is supposed to be sun and no rain after tomorrow morning.

Hope you all had a great day.

These are just some of the flowers that we bought for around the pond area.   We also bought lots of petunias which are my favorite.

Life is pretty much the same around here.   Go to physical therapy twice a week which doesn't seem to be changing much of anything.  Waiting for some yarn to come in to get stared on the next weaving project.   Tomorrow I start to go through the house and doing some major clean out!  I haven't used it in the last year it goes!  Tired of all the junk!

Hope you all had a great day.

Back down in the city for a few days.  I came down to clean house for the guys and you sure can tell it has been a long while since it has been done.  I love the guys but they sure know how to make a mess.  To defend them though, they have been working extremely long days.  They leave by 5 a.m and don't get to the house until after 7 p.m.   Don't leave them much energy to pick up after themselves.

I walked out of the house without the camera, so now I am using photo's from the archives.  One thing about upstate is the country views.   I could never live in the city, no way, no how!   Way too many people, too much noise and they seem to never sleep!   The good thing is they have things that you would never find up home.

Hope you all have a great day.

Earn some lose lots

Went to get the oil changed and have the brakes checked on the car today.  I also wanted them to detail it, but guess what, other things needed to get done that was more important and cost a lot more.  The brake pads in front needed replaced, the back pads needed to be cleaned, the rotors on the front and the back needed to be resurfaced, the air, oil and cabin filters needed to be replaced plus the water pump (which is covered by the extended warranty) was leaking and had to also be replaced.  Needless to say the labor was twice as much as the parts cost themselves!   Just so you all know, Toyota's brakes don't last worth a darn, I have had my brakes done three times in the last four years!   My car is a 2008 and the water pump starts leaking!  I still think the labor cost is the worst of the whole thing!  I mean not even the hubby makes 79 dollars an hour!  Sorry, but sometimes I think that owning a newer car is not worth it but then of course you get an old one that nickle and dimes you then you still have the same old headache except the hubby can fix some of  the old vehicals!   You sure are darned if you do and darned if you don't!  People wonder why they never have money, its because no matter what you do you seem to have to dish out some kind of cash to get things or do things!  Nothing is free that is for sure, but come on can't we at least bring prices down so our pockets aren't empty all the time.

Well enough of the moanin and groanin, hope you all had a great day!

The tree swallows are one of our favorite birds, along with the Barn Swallows that we get during the summer months.  They eat a lot of those pesky bugs that we get.

We have been getting a lot of rain that has prevented up from getting our gardens in, I am actually getting itchy to get it done and it really irritates me that we aren't getting it in.  I am not going to have that big of one this year.  I do need to do lots of tomatoes, that is one thing that I use a lot of during the winter months.  Hopefully the ground dries out to get things in before it gets too much later in the month.  Our gardens have been steadily getting smaller, with the kids both getting to the point of not being home as often, we don't need as much.  Which means less work for me, that is good!

Hope you all have great day.

The new and old

Here is the restoration project!  Lots of work but not bad for a F 350 with a 460 motor in it!  4 x 4 on top of it too!  The original color was red, right now it has black primer on it.  We decided that we will only drive it in summer and put it up in winter to restore it and keep it in the condition it is in until we can start the work on it.

Hope you all had a great day!

Pond Animal

It is that time of year where we have the pond up and running.  We bought the plants and gold  fish for the pond area.  It is so nice to be able to sit with my beer or wine and just relax.  The frogs had made it to the pond before we even had the pumps back in and running, I told the hubby it was time to get it running if the frogs were back.

The hubby came home last night and had to take the new truck out for a drive and he was happy I bought it.  I will take pictures today and post them.  It isn't beautiful, yet, but once we have it restored it will be!  I even had custom license plates ordered for it!  I drove it yesterday to go and pick up our beef and boy is that a truck, not like the way they are made now days that is for sure!

Other than that not a whole lot is going on here on the farm, the animals are all doing great and I have been riding more, I have to get my riding skills up so when we go visiting one of my favorite ranchers I won't look to much like a beginner.  I know that is impossible being as I will be with someone that makes his living on the back of a horse but I know he will make allowances for us greenhorns!  I might even come home with some new skills like having an idea on how to throw a rope.

Hope you all have a great day!

Boating

Last Saturday we took the pontoon out on the Lake!   We caught a bunch of rock bass, and saw some of the lake residents in the process!  We had a beautiful day for fishing.  We decided to leave the boat at the lake this year, so that we don't have to travel back and forth with the boat.  We seem to take the boat out only on this particular lake.  So, we decide it would be a lot easier to take the boat out if we just left it on the lake and we will hopefully use it a lot more often.

I am now a proud owner of a 79 Ford 350!   We love the old Ford trucks,  when I went out on my first date with the hubby, he owned a 67 ford, short bed truck with a standard.   When I went out on that first date with the hubby, he made me drive that standard and I had never, ever drove a standard in my life!  You should of saw me trying to drive that thing, it was a good thing that it wasn't easy to kill that truck, but I sure made that thing buck going down the road when I kept slipping the clutch!  It wasn't funny at the time but when I remember it now, I laugh like crazy!  In just 27 days the hubby and I will be married for 25 years and have been together for 27 years!  I just love that man of mine!

Have a great day!
