Pond area no more! PATIO!

Before:

After:

It is just wonderful!  We have worked on it all weekend and wa-la, all finished.  Now it is the pond design and construction, and I am going to empty the porch and paint that also.  I still don't know if the pond will get finished this year yet or not.

I am off to Illinois with my daughter from Thursday until Tuesday.  Then it will be back to getting things done.  The Internet service and cellphone service out there is horrible, worse than where I live!  So, after tomorrow no blogging.  But I will try to facebook what is happening.

Hope you have a great week.

Look at those Peepers

The son was taking down the strawberries so that I could pick them, and low and behold, he sees this little guy.  We don't get to see the peepers, but the son just happened to be lucky and get a hold of this one.

This weekend will be a full weekend.    The hubby will be home in less than a half hour.  Then we will be off to get some blue stone to finish my patio.  Then he will have to go to the Chiropractors.  Tomorrow hopefully we will be putting down the blue stone.  Sunday is Father's day, and it won't be an easy day for me, but I do wish all you father's out there a wonderful, happy day!

Have a great weekend.

Garden and Cows

The first things picked this year in the garden, cilantro, radishes, and green onions.  The strawberries are also, doing well.  I picked the first quart this year.   I did have some interesting fun while picking things in the garden.  I was happily weeding the garden, and I look up, what do I see?

I see the cow go romping by me in the house yard, WHAT THE ..............!  Yes, he escaped his pen.   Boy was that fun trying to round up a cow with no help in sight.  I was wondering what the blank, blank, blank was I going to do.  I go get his halter, and get it on him and try leading him to the corral (not going to happen).  I see that the neighbor is out mowing his lawn, I go and ask for his assistance (gladly he says).  We proceed over to Curly (the bad cow), the neighbor leads while I put a bucket of grain under his nose and take him over to the corral.  Now if any of you have cows you know how easy that was (NOT).   Needless to say, by the time the son got home and we had his pen back up to snuff it was well past nine in the evening.  I never thought the garden and cows went together, but hey, what do I know!

Hope your week is going well!

Good Morning

Not much happening the last few days.  It has been nice not having any appointments, that I had to go to.  I have actually been able to stay home and get some stuff done.  Today is the day to do some picking in the garden.  I will be weeding between the plants, and then picking some strawberries, onions, and radishes (that have probably grown the size of a golf ball)!   I did some weaving yesterday.   Monday, I took the day off because I had to recoup after hauling rock Sunday.  After I do the garden, I will be doing more weaving and I have to go get feed for the animals and then maybe some flowers to hang around the patio area.  I have been thinking about getting paint, that will refinish the porch.  So that, I can get rid of the carpenter bees, and then put my houseplants outside.

Lots to do, and where to begin is the thing.  Seems to always be things to be done, and trying to decide what should take precedence over the other.

Hope you have a great day.

Rock of Ages

I spent the day laying washed river rock down on my patio.  The top picture is before and the bottom picture is after.  I started this morning around 9:30 and finished around 5:30 this evening.  I shoveled around a ton and a half, shovel by shovel full.  But I got it done, and it looks great!  I still have to decorate, by putting some big rocks and garden statues and so forth down.  We still have to fill in the gazebo area with blue stone yet.  I will be going to get some of that next week and hopefully when the hubby is home we can get it done.   I will be a hurting unit tomorrow, but it was worth it.

Hope you had a great weekend.

Storm clouds

Thunderstorm and tornado warnings and watches were out last night.  The clouds were just a churning, faster than you thought they could move.   We got some down pours but not serious winds or damage.  Other counties weren't so lucky.  We heard of power outages around us.  Not even 5 miles away they said that the weather could produce tornadoes that you should go to the basement.

Today is bright and sunny.  Tomorrow night, the rain is back in the forecast.  I hope now that the rain has come that it knows it can stop for a while.  It usually seems to go from one extreme to the other.

Have a great weekend.

Bottle Attack

Sara decided that she didn't like me drinking anything.  I had the bottle on the stand and she decided to try some.  After that, she didn't want to have anything to do with drinking!!

I went and got a new hairdo yesterday.  I decided to go short this time.  I used to have long hair that went all the way to my butt, when I was younger.  I decided in 6th grade to have it cut, and it never did grow back again, like it used to be.  It always seems to be straggly looking.  I love long hair, but it just doesn't like me.  It doesn't help that I have thin hair and color it every 4 to 6 weeks.  Yes, I color my hair.  I started going grey in my early thirties and have been coloring ever since.  It helps that the hubby actually likes my hair short rather than long!

I have started to weave more shawls.  I have two to finish, then I will be going onto doing some rag rugs, then I might do some more scarves.  Then towels.  I think the rag rugs sell the best and the scarves are going to sell well also.  Scarves are the in thing right now.

Hope you have a great day!

Garden

The garden is doing well, but we need a little more heat for the peppers.  We have a space in the garden for more plants.  I think I will get more broccoli and maybe a few more tomato plants.  We shall see.  I am going to get some flowers for the patio area that we are redoing.  I am going to maybe even buy some gold fish to put in the temporary pond.

I am going to go get washed river rock sometime this week and maybe some blue stone and finally work on finishing the patio area.  I don't have the hubby to help, so I guess I will have to do the work on my own.  Anyone want to come on over and work with me?  :)

Hope you all have a wonderful week.  Hump day is here!

Painted

This is a sign that the hubby made and did some of the painting.  It was a joint effort on the painting and stenciling the letters.  It was not as easy as it looked to paint all those letters.  It is double sided.  It took me around 5 hours to paint both sides.    I think we did a pretty darn good job.   We will be participating at this show.  The hubby and son are taking the engines that they have and the corn grinder.   I will be taking my little loom and do some weaving while they wow the crowd with their engines.  I will take pictures and post them after the show.  Which isn't until the 18 and 19 of July.

Hope you have a great week.

Workin to make a livin

This is just one of many drills the hubby runs for his job.  He is stuck down in Washington D.C. , two weeks at a time for most of the summer.  It has been pretty darn hot (he hates the heat), but he is persevering.   He hates being gone during the summer, especially when he knows that there is a ton of things that need to get done on the farm.  I can do a lot, but there are certain things that I really can't do and don't want to do!  I just want to say a BIG thank you to him for doing what he does.  He supports four of us(two that should be on their own).  He is wonderful and I want him to know that I really love him for taking care of his family and sacrificing everything he does for us!  Love you honey!

I have been working on scarves and finally took off another warp.  I now have 6 woven scarves and I am in the process of finishing them.  I will post pictures soon.  I am gradually getting things woven. The rain has finally stopped and the sun actually came out at the end of the day.  I hope to finish getting the pond area ready for the new patio.   I have a sign to paint yet before this weekend arrives.  I hope to get that done tomorrow.

Hope you are having a great week.
