Now this is pain!

I watched a video on U-Tube that gave me an idea of what they did, which made me realize why I can't move my arm much.   I am not looking forward to the rehab at all!

The hubby and the kids have been great.  I actually think it has been harder on the hubby than me.   He told me he now appreciates everything I do for him now even more than he did before!   Being a housewife isn't as easy as he thought ;)  I want to thank all my blogger friends for their well wishes and I want to thank my family for being there to help and love  me.  I am still in a lot of pain but (thanks for pain drugs) I can get a little bit of a relief!

Hope you all have a great day!

Sunday Stills Plus ...

The top picture is for Sunday Stills and of course the bottom three are my cast iron meal I had or what was left of it.  It was the first time I had ever made biscuits in the cast iron and they came out perfect!

I am doing this post with one hand plus I am light headed and nauseous, so I guess I will say goodbye for now.

Just a ducky day, Bottoms Up!

One of the best things about vacation is watching the ducks and of course the very best is seeing and hearing the Loons call to each other.  I was able to get up close and personal with the Loons, one of my very favorite things to see on the Lake.

Tomorrow is the surgery so this will most likely be my last post for a  while.  I will be back hopefully sooner rather than later!  Hope you all have a great weekend and I will be back soon!

Vacation on the lake is one of the best vacations we take every year.  We have the beautiful sunsets and sunrises.  We have the boat to go fishing and just enjoy the boating.  Then of course, we have the best of all, that is the cast iron cooking that is done most of the time that we are up on the lake.

Hope you all had a great day!

Macro Monday

This little guy was just hanging around the pond area.  He was pretty impressive!  I think dragon flies are pretty neat creatures!  With it being pretty dry around here we are getting a lot of different insects coming in for drinks at the pond.  We get  the honey bees in and wasps and you name it we get it.

Glad that vacation is over and back home.  I love going to the lake but I sure love coming home more!   I hate the unpacking though, took all day Saturday and Sunday to get the laundry done.  I was ready for a long nap by the time Sunday afternoon got around but of course I didn't.   Now its Monday.

I go to the hospital today to do a lot of prep testing for my rotator cuff surgery that I will be having on Friday.  I will keep blogging if possible, we will wait and see how much pain I am in and if it is too bad I will have the kids do it for me and make them put up what I tell them too!

Hope you all have a great day.

A boatin!

The hubbies new toy!  He has been wanting a canoe for quite some time.   He found one and got a very good price for it!  We will be taking it up to the lake with us.  Which we are now in the process of doing the last minute things to get ready to head to the lake.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

A table runner

This is the weaving project that I am doing next.  It will be a table runner for my best friend.  I have to say thank you to her for being so patient.   I have been holding off doing her runner for a long time and come hell or high water it will be done within the next two weeks.

I am going to have surgery done on my shoulder to repair the tear on my rotator cuff.  I have been in physical therapy and it has done nothing and as far as I am concerned I think it is worse than it was.  Not looking forward to it though, I am going to have a shot in the neck to numb the shoulder and arm.  I would rather do it that way than have them put me under, because the anesthesia makes me sicker than a dog when I wake up.  The surgery takes place on the 27th of this month.  Which is nice being as I get to at least go up to the lake first before the surgery is done.

Speaking of which, we have been spending most of the week getting ready for the vacation.   Mostly done, just have the last minute things left to do before tomorrow afternoon.  I will probably not be blogging for the next week.  I will have lots of pictures though for the following week.  Lots of lake pictures, fishing, wild life and cast iron cooking.

Hope you all have a great day.

Hummin

When I sit beside the pond in the evenings, the hummers will come in and fight over the feeders, even with having four feeders!   You have to make sure you watch your head and don't get dive bombed by them!   They sound like miniature jet plains coming in over your head.   I love to watch them fight over the feeders.  We have three or four of them that are always coming in.   They will weave in and out of the porch even.

I have finally started on another weaving project.   I have been waiting for the yarn that I needed and I had to finally order it myself and get it delivered here.   I have a local guy that I usually get my yarn from and he didn't have the color I wanted and he was supposed to order it for me and have it delivered.  I finally got tired of waiting and ordered it myself and had it here with in three days.  So, if my dear friend is reading this, I will have it done soon.  I am weaving a table runner and I still have three more orders for table runners to do after that.

The weather has been really nice but still waiting to get some rain.  The good thing is we haven't had to mow lawns in two weeks.  The grass is starting to look a little brown.  Which isn't all bad being as we go on vacation and I won't have to worry about things getting away from us during our absences!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

BBQ Recipe (for those who asked)

I really don't have a specific recipe for my BBQ sauce.  I  go by how much I want to make and adjust all the ingredients accordingly.   I start out with Ketchup, Dijon mustard, liquid smoke, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, honey, garlic powder, and franks hot sauce, oh and I almost forgot, MOLASSES!  I use quite a bit of that!  I never measure out the ingredients.  When we had the family picnic, I started out using 2 big bottles of ketchup and one whole container of liquid smoke and 3/4 a bottle of Worcestershire sauce and then two whole bottles of Dijon mustard and then just added the sweet ingredients to my taste!  So, good luck and just experiment with the ingredients!  This made about 1.5 gallons of BBQ and I still ended up with extra left over in the refrigerator, which was just fine with me.  I used it on meatloaf and what else my heart desired to use it on.

I  use this all the time and I never buy BBQ sauce!  It isn't a fancy recipe or any real special ingredients.  But the hubby sure loves it.  So good luck and let me know how you adjust the recipe.

Hope you all had a great day.

The family picnic was fantastic.  Everyone brought a dish to pass and the food was just delicious and more than enough of it to go around.  The hubby and his cousin did the roasting!   Not to brag, but I did the BBQ sauce and everyone loved it wanted my recipe for it.  I don't know if I want to give it out now, everyone told me I should bottle it and sell it.  Maybe I should keep it to myself and do just that!   We did have a wonderful day for it that was for sure, it rained a little bit but not enough to ruin the party and it was only around for a short period of time!

Hope you all had a wonderful day.

Pleazzzzzze come closer!

Seems like when I notice one of these lovely birds flying over it is too late and never gets close enough for me to get a good shot of him!  Maybe next time.

It has been pretty darn dry and hot around these parts.  We are having a Montgomery family picnic this weekend and sounds like it is going to be another hot one.  Hopefully it will be nice and then in the evening get some much needed rain.  It has been a pretty hectic week with getting the house ready for a visitor (one that was not expected).  Then of course getting everything ready for the lovely family party.  (lots of family help, which is much appreciated!)  The son and I went to the local spring, to fill our water tank up to water our animals and fill our little pond up and water my outside plants.  Don't want to over stress our water wells.   Other than that the same old is going on.

Hope you all had a wonderful day!

Happy 4th of July to you all!

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Went to the lake fishing and was able to get a good shot of this lovely, he was just relaxing by the cool water.  We didn't catch too many fish this weekend.  We are hoping that by the time we go up for the week that the fishing is better!  Would be nice to have a fish fry while we are up there.

Not a whole lot going on at the farm, these days, we have been pretty lax in doing gardens this year with the hubby not being home enough to get the gardens ready for planting and being just a tad lazy because of the hot and dry conditions this year.  We have been able to get some hay in but still have a fair amount to get in yet.  It seems like it is hard to get a lot done with all the running I have been doing.   Seems like I am gone more than I am at home.

Hope you are having a good day.

Macro Monday

Robin eggs have been a popular post lately and I decided that I would get on the band wagon, also!  The hubby found the nest in the shed next to the garage.   We decided that it would be a great idea to  take a picture.   This picture was taken two weeks ago and they still have not hatched yet.  I went to check, and the momma went a flying away when she saw me coming.   I will keep an eye out and hopefully it won't be long and I will taking pictures of the babies.  So much going on that I might forget.

It is going to be a very hectic month, first is our family picnic this coming weekend, then the following weekend is the beginning of our vacation up on the lake!  Can't believe how fast this summer is going!  Seems like there is not enough time to get everything done.  Next thing you know the summer will be over and we will be worring about the snow season coming.  I know, I know, don't rush it, and believe me I am not in a hurry!

Hope you all had a great weekend and have a great evening.
