Jump!

Brian decided to put Sirocco in Hunter classes.  He got a third place and a fifth place.   He did fantastic for a horse that was green just three months ago.   He sure has come a long way.  I told Brian he can do the English discipline but I was sticking to Western!  Brian will be showing him in the Western classes today, so more pictures tomorrow.   I have never cared much for English riding.

The hubby bought me a used saddle and show  halter yesterday.   I will post a picture tomorrow on that.  (Western tack, not English)  If I really get into the Western showing, I am going to have one of my favorite bloggers make me a new saddle, and I think he knows who he is.

Hope you have a great day.  I think it is going to be a wet one for us today.   Sad face :(  not conducive for showing a horse.

fair

Here is Sirocco's stall.  The hubby made his name out of horse shoes, and beside his stall on the right is a poster board with some pictures that I did.  You will have to click the bottom picture to get a better view.  He is in four classes on Sunday.  Western in Hand-Gelding/Stallion, Green Horse Western Pleasure-2 gait, Green Horse Bosal Pleasure-2 gait, and Green Horse Western Trail.  Brian, my trainer is the one that did the rest of the decorations.  I only helped with putting up the black and blue fabric.

Hope you are having a great week.

New Project

The husband decided that he wanted to have one of these boats to restore.  Now the story behind this boat.  Peck's Lake (our vacation spot every year) is one of the places that the hubby and his family have been going to before he was even born.  These wooden boats were used on the lake for years, and just in the last few years have they taken them off the lake and replaced them with aluminum boats.  So, it does have history.  Now the only problem I see is how long this lovely boat stays in this same spot before it gets restored.

Fair week is here and Sunday is the day that Sirocco will be showing his true colors!  It will be great exposure for him.  I am very excited.   I will have pictures of his stall hopefully in the next couple of days.  I will be spending about half of my time at the fair this week.

Hope you have a great week.

Reflect

This has been a cooler year all around.  It is hard to believe that we are looking around the corner at fall coming.    We have had a pretty mild summer this year in upstate New York.   Seems the days are going faster than most of us really want them to.   I don't know about you, but I don't really want to wish my life away anytime soon.   I think I would prefer if the days started slowing down a little.   I think about all the things that I would love to accomplish before my life is over.  I have a feeling that we never really accomplish everything we would love to do.  Makes me wish that I thought about these things when I was a lot younger.

I hope you are having a great week.

Come on in

I love having the arbor next to the pond.  I had volunteer sunflowers come up in front of it and it is just beautiful.   The hubby has been bringing home some cobblestones, that are on the sight where he is drilling; we are going to make a sidewalk with them that will go up to the arbor.

I went for a trail ride last night with my daughter and a few other girls along and with Brian (trainer for Sirocco).   It was sure nice to be back in the saddle and longer than just for a half hour!  The fear is gradually going away.  I only had one anxious moment, but I worked through it without a problem!  Sirocco is entered in the fair and  Brian will be the one doing the riding.    I decided that I will not ride in shows until I learn how and what is involved in showing.  I have never showed a horse in my life.  Sirocco sure has changed, we could not touch his ears and now I can touch them with no problem.  He stops when he is asked, he is doing just great.  I did not ride him last night, still not confident enough to ride him out on the trail.  I still have some fear issues with Sirocco to work out before I ride on the trail.

Hope you are having a great week.

This house has gone to the chickens!

This house has gone to the chickens.    This is the first time that I have seen the chickens get up into the windows, and three at the same time! Hope you have a great weekend.

Mule headed

The pony and the mule are doing great.  They look a lot different from when I got them.  I can't seem to find the old picture of the mule that I took when I first got him.

Hope you had a great week, and a better weekend.

This n that

Another day in paradise.   It is raining a nice steady rain, that makes you want to just stay curled up in your favorite chair and enjoy what you love to do.  Mine is reading!  Alas, that is not what I am doing, of course, I am still trying to get through the house and get rid of things that we have not seen in a coons age.

First thing this morning was going to the fairgrounds and entering Sirocco in the fair.  Brian is going to show him in 5 western classes during fair week.   I have never shown a horse in my life, so I am leaving that up to Brian for this year and he can school me in the art of how to show a horse.  I will be there listening and watching and learning, what it is all about!  I rode Sirocco for the first time last night since he has been at the trainers.  He has come a long ways.  I was not nervous and very ready to ride and see how well he listens to my suggestions.  He did great, he did not put the fear of god into me once.  (thank you)

We had a family reunion Sunday and we did the meat for the occasion and it went well.  We had a lovely day for it.

Hope you are having a great week.

Rags

Here are just some of the rugs that I have woven.  The first two are made out of wool, the third one is out of cotton rags, and the last one is made out of wool, and chenille cotton.   Please click on them to get a better view!

It has been a pretty darn week here, but starting to get dry and would like to see some rain.  Everyone around us have gotten rain and seems to be missing us.  I probably better not wish too much, I might get more than I bargained for!

Hope you had a great week and have a great weekend!

Display

This is my display at the Antique Mall in Little Falls, NY.  The lady that runs the shops said that I did a great job with the display and that my prices were reasonable.  She sounded real happy.   I was happy, my daughter went with me and helped me set up.  They are having a what is called Canal Days this weekend and that will generate a lot of customers.  I am pretty excited.  I hope to be able to get my name out there and maybe generate some business.

I am in the process of canning beets.  I didn't get started until late in the day, which means it will be pretty darn late by the time I finish!  I have been running for the last three days and I feel like I am forgetting to do things.   I am actually looking forward to the weekend and hopefully things will settle down for a couple of days!

Hope you are having a great week.

This one's for Marianne

The son was mowing the lawn the other day and saw these little ones in the tree only 2 feet from the ground.  We were able to get right up to them and if we wanted to, we could of actually picked them up.  They are one of the cutest babies we have seen.  I am not that good with my birds, so I think I will leave it up to my in-laws to let me know what they are.  They are fantastic with their birds, including the hubby.

I am in the process of canning beans and I will have 18 quarts when all of them are done.  Tomorrow I am going to work on doing my beets, after I do some running in the morning.

I am going to put my weaving in an antique mall that has handmade things that are for sale on the top floor.   I am hoping that I have enough things to sell to put in it.  I look at what I have done and it just doesn't seem like enough.  I have to start somewhere though and I can always keep adding thing as I finish them.   At least I will have the opportunity to get my stuff out, so that the public can see what I do and hopefully generate some customers!  It is only going to cost me approximately 40 to 50 dollars a month to rent a space.  Wish me luck.  I will take a picture of my display and post it tomorrow.

Hope you had a great day.

Gardening

Saturday I did broccoli and cauliflower.  My second batch.  Today I went out and picked more beans and beets.  Tomorrow is a day that will be filled with canning the beans and pickling the beets.  I found that I love my beets pickled and I even heat them up for a vegetable at dinner time. So, now I don't make any other beet except for pickled.

Hope you had a great weekend.
