Freedom

This is part of the freedom tower in NY at ground zero. The hubby was working next to the buildings and this is all we can show you but it sure looks like it is going to be an impressive building. Hope you all are having a good Monday.

The sun is finally showing after 5 days of no sun!

College

I took the daughter to two of the college's that she was excepted into to decide which one she wanted to be transferred to. I was a dummy and forgot to take pictures of the first college(Cazenovia) we went too!. The first one is a private school that is almost 40 grand to go to and the second one is only 20 grand a year. The first college is nice because it is only an 1hour and 20 minutes away and is in a very small town that is very nice and you can feel safe in. The picture at the top is the Admissions building to Oswego University which is next to the lake and is a large city. Very hard decision to make. Both college's will give her a good degree but I think that the larger one is the better choice but it is up to the daughter in the long run because she is the one that has to go and she is the one who will be paying for the education!

It started out to be not a bad day but by the time we were up in the other college the rain and the clouds were back out again! We left at 7:30 yesterday morning and didn't get home until 6:00 last night and boy did that make for a long day! The bigger college is 2.5 hours away! Hard to believe that the daughter is going to be gone this fall and off on her own for the most part! Both colleges are really nice places. At first she had her mind made up for the smaller college but when we visited the larger one and she saw all the different things that were available it made it an even harder decision!

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Fluff

These fluffy looking clouds have been a regular occurrence the last few days (no blue showing though). It has been raining and just plain wet. Stinks for the farmers trying to make hay and get on the ground but I guess it is either the poor people that are getting no rain and things are just shriveling up or it is those poor people that are getting flooded out instead. Mother nature is testing us all and we shall prevail as they say and hope!

I still have to say that I would rather have this weather than the snow and cold conditions! Hope you all are fairing well and hanging in there. Better days are coming they say!

Destructive

Yes, this is a wood chuck that was around 10 to 15 yards away from the back deck of the house down in NJ. I really saw some neat stuff last week when I was down there. I guess, being that it is summer, the critters are coming out more now. Except for their ugly tail the woodchuck is rather a cute looking thing.

Well the hubby is off to North Carolina for two weeks and won't be back until the fourth of July. I am hoping that the job he is on is finished by then and he will be coming home rather than just coming back for a visit. I don't mind him being gone for a week and home on weekends but I sure hate it when he is gone longer than that. What makes it even worse is the son is leaving next week on Tuesday and won't be back for 22 days as you all know already. So both of my men will be gone. Oh well, good thing I am not a prissy kind of gal!

You all have a great day.

Birds and the Bees

That top picture is of a flicker and it could of been a better one but the camera couldn't zoom in close enough to get a better shot!  The first time I had seen a flicker close up!  Hope you all have a wonderful Fathers Day!

Well worth it!

The trip to the city was well worth it this time! Even in the city you get to see some wild life! This doe came within 10 to 15 yards of our back deck at the house! She stood right there and watched us while I took pictures of her! She was letting us know that we couldn't do anything but watch her! If you look close at the last picture, she is sticking her tongue out at us letting us know that we couldn't get to her!

I have some more great things that I saw down there that I will post later on. You all have a great day!

Here again!

I am down in NJ again, cleaning the guy's house and spending time with the hubby.  He is off to NC for a few weeks, they say it should only take a couple of weeks but he seems to think he will be down there until we go on vacation which is the 16th of July!   I am not going to like that but what do you do.  Someone has to stay home and make sure the livestock survives (correctly that is).  Love the kids but they defiantly are not going to be farmers when they grow up!

The son is going away for 22 days on the 28th he leaves and he will not be back until the 19 of July.  I am losing both of my favorite men!  NOT fair.  It is going to be the first time the son has been away from home that long, I think the longest he has ever been gone has been 4 days.  It is a program where they go to the wilds of Maine and go hiking and canoeing and survive.  They have one adult per 10 kids and they have three days that they will separate the kids so they are by themselves and they check up on them but they won't see then do it.  They say that the two things that happen the most on these trips is blisters and home sickness!  The kids come back changed kids!

You all have great day.

Vacation

In just a few weeks this will be our scenery outside our front porch. All the family and the hubbies sister's family are looking forward to a week of pure relaxation and listening to the loons at night and first thing in the morning. I love getting up with a cup of coffee and going out onto the porch and just watching the sun come up over the horizon!

We take the pontoon boat out on the lake everyday fishing and that is the real joy of being out on the lake for a week! The fishing might not be best sometimes but we sure enjoy being together and trying! The hubby has been buying fishing lures like crazy! I have been planning the camp fire menus and I am not like most people and don't eat much, I actually cook more on vacation than I do when I am at home!!! I am going to buy me another dutch oven though, I have the 14 and 12 now I need 10. Then I can have the meat, veggie and dessert cooking at all the same time! I have never tried that, so we shall see how good I do. I am also going to buy a cook book for dutch oven cooking! Any of my ranching buddies have some good recipes let me know.

In the mean time I will be counting the days. I will also be getting the rest of the garden in and ready! You all have a great day!

Polyphemus

Yes, that is the name of this moth, it is giant silkworm moth. The males actually only live for 5 days, it mates then dies. It can't see or eat. The females lays eggs then also dies.

Well, it is actually a little chilly here compared to what it was a few days ago, and the rainy wet weather is back.  I like the cooler weather, a lot better than the 90 humid degree weather that is for sure.

Hope you all have a great week and day!

Life is so hard

What a life! I sure love my parents! I get to take naps when ever I want, they don't make me do anything. I get to come and go as I please, the only thing I don't agree with is they won't let me up on top of the tables and counters, I get whacked every time I get caught. I am pretty sneaky though because they don't catch me all the time! I wish though that she would put that darn camera away the flashing light keeps waking me up! Thank goodness she quit, now back to my nap. Oh, I forgot, I know she is going to put my picture up on the computer, just so you know I am pretty darn handy to have around. I keep her company once in a while even when she doesn't want it! You all have a great day.

Hot and Humid

It has been up in the high 80's and low 90's with the temps going up to 98 today. One thing good about the North east is usually the hot weather doesn't last for too long before it does go down to manageable temps. You notice I said usually, with the way things have been this year with Mother Nature we won't presume anything at this point! I think I feel worse for the animals that have to be out in it.

Not much has been going on. We have the garden ready to plant and will be putting in some plants this weekend. I have tons of things left in the freezer from last year. (the hubby made sure we had plenty) I told him this year we only need a few things and the rest will be planted to enjoy eating during the summer months, like peppers and broccoli and cauliflower etc. I do have to can the tomatoes and pickle beets this year though and there is always things I end up freezing or canning as I can't let things just rot on the vines, of course. (we all know we will end up planting more than we need).

Lets see, I also bought another loom (like I needed another one!) I will be posting pictures once I start weaving something on it. I am selling one too, so that really makes up for buying the new loom (I think).

Hope you all have a great day!
