Sunday Stills

We have my good old wheels to hold up my morning glories in the summer no rubber on these, then we have the nice lawn ornament that doesn't have any where near what the new tractors have now days, and last but not least horseshoes without the horse!

Going to NJ with the hubby next week and will be doing lots of book work on the laptop, along with getting things ready for taxes, and lots of reading material and study materials.  It will be a nice break from the running to doctors that I have been doing for the last few couple of weeks.  The kids will be here taking care of the farm and house!   Kegan does a great job taking care of things, along with Tawny.   It is great to have adult children to take care of things while the parents go away.

Hope you have a great evening.

Boring

The last few nights I have wanted to take a good picture of the sunset, but I have been slow on the uptake.  I have been getting to it about the same time and spot.  I get busy out in the barn and forget the time.

It was a lovely day today.  The sun was shining and a lot warmer, with not very much wind.  Monday or Tuesday of next week it is supposed to get close to 50 degrees.  That will be nice, but I am still waiting for the ball  to drop and get a boat load of snow.  February is almost here and that has seemed to be the time we get hammered with a foot of snow.  The hubby wants a nice long open winter, here is hoping he gets his wish, but I think it is wishful thinking!

Post seems pretty darn boring!  I just don't have a lot going on at this point, I pretty much do my day
to day thing.  I went and had my ultrasound done on my heart yesterday and now it is just a waiting game.  Hopefully, I don't hear anything, and that will be good news.  They said they would call if they found anything.  Other than that, .......that is pretty much all that is going on in my life right now.

Hope you have a great weekend.

New

This is the next scarf that is on the loom.   I did one that was mostly red, I did it for the daughter's boyfriend for Christmas.  I didn't get a picture taken of that one.  I hope to get one more scarf off the warp.  Then, I have some of  the towel warp that is left over from some Christmas projects.  I still have a shawl left to do.  I am going to let this scarf go until later and start on the shawl.

Today was a day of staying at home. (yippy)  Tomorrow it is back to another doctor appointment,  grocery shopping and back to the the whole sale store that is going out of business, to get the hubby and son some more military socks.  Then Saturday, I have a chiropractor appointment, then I will go back to doing some weaving.

The hubby has to work Saturday, and he isn't a happy camper.  I can understand why, when I had to work on Saturday's I hated it.  I will hopefully be going with him next week to cook for him and have a little alone time at night.  We don't get a lot of time together when he is home on weekends.   He usually has lots of things to get caught up on and then it seems that we always have company of some kind.  Then of course, the kids are still living at home and that makes things a little difficult to have some couple time!

Hope you have a great night.

Sell or not to sell

No pictures again.  I sold 15 bales of hay today.  The ad was on craigslist, and the guy said he would be here around 12 or 1.  Well, he showed, then proceeded to look at the bales for over 15 minutes complaining that they looked stemy.   Then he asked if I would go lower in price being as he had cash (like I would take anything less), I said no, that I had already lowered the price once.   Then we got the bales loaded and he asked me if I had it all tallied in price (like I wouldn't know how much it all would cost).    I tell you, I was not a happy camper by the time he left.  If you don't want the stuff don't take it, but don't bit....... to me about the price and the way they look!  The guy drove about  2 hours here.  He could of came before bringing his trailer and decide if he wanted the darn things before hand!!   I think he thought that if he hemmed and hawed long enough, I would change my price, or maybe it was because I am a women.  I think the hubby is the one that will be doing the negotiations next time, and no one is coming to pick it up unless he is home!!!   I know you always try to get the person to lower the price, but once it is negotiated don't be an ass.  Then he calls me and tells me he has a trailer for sale if I want to buy it.  (the son told him we were looking for one)  I would not buy it from him even if he was the only guy who had one!   We sold round bales a couple of years ago and had no complaints or problems.  I guess all people aren't easy to get along with.

Enough on that, now, other than that, my day was pretty darn good.  Hope you have a great night.

Pictureless

No pictures today.  I need to go out and spend some time with the camera and take pictures.

Today I had the appointment with the colonoscopy specialist.  That lovely surgery is do February the 19th.  Now all I have is two more appointments this week and will be done until the end of February.

Jake was taken to the vet Friday and had his stitches and staples taken out.  We put a t-shirt on him so that he would leave the area of the incision alone and not lick it.

The guys went and bought another engine.  I have have a feeling the new barn, that hopefully will be going up this year, is going to be used for engines and not hay.

Matt had a buddy from work come up and spend the weekend with us.  We took him out for breakfast at the restaurant that the hubby's cousin owns.  We went to the Beacon Wholesale that was going out of business (as you know from the previous post).  So, that was a very full weekend.  I was lucky the storm came down south or the hubby would not of been home this weekend.  Now we have to wait to see if he will make it home this weekend or not.

Have a great week.

Pink

Yes, I am one who likes pink.  We went to a wholesale yesterday, the business is selling out and we went to get the guys some winter things.  I found lots of wool socks, a pink neck warmer that has flaps that go around the neck, and pink camo glasses.  They actually match my newest camo gun that I bought last month.   My sister loves the color pink also, and we both are not real girlie girls, yes, once in a while I like to dress up, but I really prefer my jeans and boots!

It is pretty darn cold today.  The sun is shining and we were lucky enough to not get any of the snow that south got.  Yippy, I like snow but not blizzards and feets of snow.

Have a great day.

STRESS

The cardiologist did a stress test and said that I did fine.  I have to go back next week to have an ultrasound done on the heart, to see if anything shows up on why I am having an abnormal EKG.  He said that my cholesterol was high, but the regular doctor never told me about that the other day.  I then have to go back to the cardiologist in 6 weeks for a check up on my cholesterol.   I always seem to forget to ask questions, like why is the EKG abnormal, and how bad is the cholesterol etc.  I am going to call the office tomorrow and see if I can get the answers to those question.

It was a lot nicer here today, the winds have gone done a lot and the sun actually was shining and no snow flurries.   South of the city is supposed to get blizzard conditions, along with DC and some of the other southern states.  They can keep it!

After the doctor, it was grocery shopping and visiting the aunt and uncle for a bit.  Went to TJ Maxx to use my 25 dollar gift certificate.  Then it was home to put groceries away and cook supper.  Pretty much took care of my day.  Tomorrow Jake gets his stitches taken out, then next week is another full week of appointments and running.

Hope you have a great evening.

Cold still

The wind is still howling and still getting some snow flurries.  All the horses are staying in the shed together and trying to keep warm.  It was only around 15 degrees today.  Brr

Went to the doctors and had to have a physical.   It has been almost a couple of years.  I have to have the normal mammogram done (squish), and I turned 50 last year and they want me to have a colonoscopy done (bathroom here I come), and I have had some pain in my knee when I put too much down pressure on it and so, I will have an MRI done of that when the insurance ok's it, and last but not least, I told the doc that a couple of times that I over exerted myself (like running up stairs) I got a slight tightening in my chest, not bad and just a couple of times, well then he proceeded doing an E.K.G and said that it wasn't bad but not normal and is sending me to a cardiologist.  I go see him Thursday.  Then next week is the other two appointments.  Oh, what fun!  NOT!

Have a great one.

BRRRRRR.......

The winds have been howling all day.  Lake effect snow flurries and temps around 10 degrees and lower with the wind chill factor involved.   Most of the day, you couldn't see those mountains, just for very short periods.

Tomorrow is off for a physical, the weather is not supposed to improve for me.  I will be driving the diesel, and I had the son plug it in.  Hopefully it doesn't give me problems in the cold temps.  That is the only thing I hate about diesels, and that is they do not like the cold weather.

Still working on book work, and went out and started back to weaving some things for  doing shows this year.  I still have two different things going on.  I have to get a shawl finished and then I will be working on getting inventory finished for the show season.

Stay warm and cozy!

Oh no, a hair clip!

Yes, Sara hates hair clips.  It is one of our favorite things to torment her with.  She starts to get all excited as soon as someone picks one up and starts clipping it at her.  She is so funny, she likes to go after the broom, she hates the shop vac (as does Jake).   She has been quite the puppy.  She is now a year old as of yesterday.  I never thought that I would like a small dog, but I sure do love her.

Have a great evening.

Cone head

Yes, Jake is going to be, Mr. Cone head, for the next ten days or so.  He had to have a lump on his side taken off.  He was starting to itch it and we didn't want him ripping it open.  They said that it was only fat tissue.  He has staples and stitches.  The first night home he was pretty groggy but the next day he was almost his old self.  He is one who likes to lick a lot, so the cone has to stay on, and if he starts trying to itch it, we will have to put a t-shirt on him.  So far, he is doing pretty good.  Next Friday he will have the staples and stitches taken out.

Today was spent doing a little bit of book work, a little bit of studying some excel, and a lot of housework.  Tomorrow is grocery's, dentist, blood work, and then who knows.

Hope you have a great night.

Hay!

Barn full of hay.

Yup, we have a barn full of round bales, along with our square bales.  We even have some stacked outside under tarps.  We have been trying to sell it, but no luck as of yet.  We have 15 inside we want to sell, and 7 outside ones.  Hopefully someone will snag them up before long.

We finally have a little snow on the ground and it has been pretty chilly today, with the wind chill factors.  We actually have been pretty darn mild for the north east.  I still say that we will get hammered in the next couple of months.  February seems to be the month we get our piles of snow on the ground.

Still trying to get book work done for taxes and get a system up and running on excel.  I am taking a quick refresher course on line for it.  It only cost me 10 dollars to get it.  Hopefully, I can have things done by next week.  That is what I get for waiting until the last minute to do things!

Hope you have a great evening.

Calm

This is the calm before the storm.  Had to take Jake, our black lab to the vet this morning to have a fatty lump taken off his side.  This was the scene on the way to the vet at 7:30 this morning.  When I had to go pick him up by 4 it had already started with the snow flurries.  They are calling for anywhere from 2 to five or six inches.  So far, we have had only a dusting so far.

I put up 15 more quarts of sauerkraut after taking Jake this morning.  Now we are done until later this year, and we will put more up.

Hope you have a great evening.

Redneck

Yes, if I was a redneck, I would attach that skull to the front of our truck.  I am not quite that much of a redneck yet!  There actually is 2 skulls kicking around.  We haven't decided, yet where we are going to hang them.  For the faint of heart, you might not want to read the next sentence.  Those skulls are actually from the steers that we raised for beef.  We decided to keep the skulls of two because of the horns on them.

Cold today, and the ground has froze back up, after all the rain yesterday.  It is supposed to stay cold for a while now.  I am glad the ground is frozen again.  I hate having the rain and mud this time of year.

Not much going on, here on the farm.  I am doing sauerkraut, the last of the two crocks that we put up.  I still have lots of paper work to get done. I also, of course, have lots of weaving to do.

Hope you have a great day.

Another one

Another addition to the Montgomery Used Car Lot, a 1964 ford.

It is actually the son's truck.  Since the son still lives at home, it is considered part of the family cars.  The hubby and I have two trucks and the car, the hubby has a company truck, the son has a car and truck, and finally the daughter has her car.  So, that makes seven vehicles on the property.  NOT including the tractors and engines.

Today is a day for the ducks.  It has been raining since before we even got out of bed this morning.  One of those days, that you just want to stay on the couch curled up in a blanket, and read for most of the day.  That is not going to last long, by tomorrow the cold weather and snow flurries will be back.

Stay warm and comfy.

Motorin

 Our 5,000 dollar motorhome.
The couch and dinette slide out.
The bedroom slides out, with his and her sinks, and medicine cabinets.
 The bathroom.
The driving quarters.

I have talked about our new motor home, but didn't get time to take pictures and blog it.  So, the story follows:

The guys went to look at engine parts, and the gentleman asked them if they wanted to buy a motor home, the hubby says, no not really.  So, they proceed to look at parts and then came home.  The hubby then proceeds to tell me, that the guy had a motor home for only 5,000 dollars.  I asked him if he was crazy for not at least looking at it.  Needless to say, we have been looking at campers for when we do engine shows, and had no luck.  I told him to give the guy a call back and we would go look at it.  It is a 2003, with less than 7,000 miles.  It hadn't been moved for 7 years, and hadn't run for 3.  The guys charged the batteries, then it started and it just purred.   We have had to put 1,500 dollars into it so far.  We still have to get the generator fixed and get new tires for it.  It is 36.8 feet long and it is going to eat gas.  BUT you can't beet 5,000, when it books at around 40,000 dollars.  We still have to get the inside set up, but you do that with most campers.   We are going to use it for a while and see how it goes, we will either keep it or trade it for something a little smaller.  For now, we will keep it and see how we like it.  We have never owned a camper before, so it will be an experience for us.  Nothing like having a home on wheels.

Have a great day.

Mirrored Window

Old window, made into a hanging mirror.
Me, trying to take a picture of said windowed mirror.

The hubby's friend from work made me this, and had it sent to me.   I think it is the coolest thing.  I went shopping today and while I was out, decided to buy some stuff to decorate it.  Now all I have to do is find the perfect spot for it.

Today was a nice sunny, and reasonable warm day.  I am glad that I did all my running today.  Got the grocery's done, my hair colored and trimmed.  I hate the days that I have to be gone all day.  Went to the Aunt and Uncles to visit when I was done.  I have made it a habit to go visit them, when I go shopping on Thursdays.

Tomorrow is the day that I bake bread and do the house cleaning.  Hopefully, I can get some more book work done.

Good Evening!

Most thought of

Some of the most precious things are the things that make you think of your children.  The plant is one from my son, he picked it out all by himself.  The coffee mug is also from the son, and I find myself going for it quite often.  The huge plant, is one from the hubby when our daughter was born 25 years ago, and it has traveled from Illinois all the way out here to New York.  Finally, the thing the son made me in school, that sits on the top of my desk.  I have lots more in the house, but these are just some of the really special things that I love the most.

I have finally sat down and started to work with Excel for the book work.  I haven't had a reason to do a lot of reason to do detailed bookkeeping, but now that I have the farm and the weaving, it was time to really get down to business and try to do a better job at bookkeeping.  I have some trial and error things to learn, but I will become more efficient as time goes on.  That is what all the schooling was for, now,  I just have to use what I have learned before I totally forget it all.

The weather has been pretty chilly, but it is supposed to get better for a couple of days, then back to being cold again by next week.  What a crazy weather system we have been having this year.

I was just told, that my daughter has cooked and finished with our supper, I think I will enjoy eating someone else's cooking for a change.

Muddy Mess

This has been our pastures for the last few weeks.  Muddy as all get out.  We have had rain, and really warm weather.  It has finally frozen, now we have hard lumpy ground that makes it like a mine field for the horses!

I am so glad the holidays are over.  Now the hard work begins again.  Trying to get book work done and caught up before the taxes.  I now finally have the time to get things put onto quickbooks and what happens, I keep getting an unresolved error and then it tells me it needs to shut down and it will let me know if they find any solutions.  I call quickbooks and they tell me my computer has a problem with microsoft and that it has encrypted my quickbooks and they wanted to charge me 126 dollars to fix my microsoft and then quickbooks.  What a mess!  Needless to say, I spent most of my day trying to fix that problem.  It looks like I will be trying to work with Excel to do all my book work and the heck with quickbooks.

I will persevere and figure things out one way or the other!

Intentions

As you can see Jake is enjoying being part of the family.

I think that is the new word for the New Year.  I refuse to have resolutions.  I am going to be intent to accomplish as much as possible in the next year.  I will start with one thing and as that is accomplished, then it will be on to the next.  The first thing is to get all my book work onto a program and keep up with it.  After that we will see.

Snow and colder weather has finally made its appearance here at the east coast.  We are getting snow flurries and there is snow on the ground and we are staying in the thirties and getting down into the single digits.  FOR NOW, then it is supposed to reach 40 again, but for only a day or so.

I am sitting next to the window that has our bird feeder, and we have been getting a lot of Blue Jays at the feeder.  The poor little birds have to go to the ground or one of the other feeders to get feed.

Hope you have a great day.

Happy New Year's Day!

This is the last set of towels that I did for a gentleman down in NJ.  I think I will be doing more of this kind of thing.  They turned out really nice.  I got all my orders done that I needed for Christmas done,  I now have a shawl left to do and I will be all caught up.  Then its getting things woven for doing shows this year.

Hope you all have a wonderful New Year's Day.  I will be back tomorrow for another post.
