Day by Day

All the animals at South View farm are doing good, enjoying the nice sunny days that aren't too hot and humid.  It really has been a perfect two weeks, just a little rain and not overly hot.  This is the last week of my summer class online, then I can enjoy a little more time with horses and the weaving.

I wound two warps in the last two days.  I will have four looms loaded and ready for weaving.  I will have a loom set up to do table runners, towels, and rag rugs.  I won't be running out of things to do for a while.  Now that the weather has straightened out and Annie's feet are doing better, I am hoping to get some major riding time in now.  I think I have forgotten how to ride, (just kidding).  When my niece rode sirocco she had a problem and the saddle went flying and the back cinch broke and so I will have to use a synthetic saddle that I had purchased, or go bareback.  I hate the synthetic saddle, just doesn't fit my rear very good ;)

Hope you are having a good week so far.

Moth

The son found this little critter on the garage door this morning.  If you want to call him small, that is.

TGIF is what I am thinking, even though my week seems to run into the weekend also and just keeps on going.   As I am sure the rest of you agree.

Sun is shining and have to go get grocery's, do homework, register the boat trailer, do the laundry, try to get some weaving in, spend time with the horses, and let me see................oh, yeah, and did I tell you I HATE grocery shopping.

Have a wonderful day!

South View

Not much going on here at the farm.  Curly is doing good, the other two steers are doing good. The horses are fine and the chickens, dogs, and cats!  Even the humans at the house are good.  The hubby isn't too happy about having to go down to Palm Springs, Florida in the summer, but I guess you go where the work is.  He will be down there for just a couple of weeks, and will be actually working out on the water!

I have one more week of my summer class that I had to take, then will have a month off of school before I go back for my last semester.  I still haven't decided if I will continue my education or stop at the associates degree, my Aunt tells me I should keep going, being as I am doing so good at my schooling! Decisions, decisions!

Hope you all are having a good week, and have a wonderful day.

The Loony Bin

The Loons are one of the best thing about the lake.  This year there were little ones!  If you click on the picture, you will get a better view.  I love to listen to them when they are calling each other, if you don't know; they mate for life.  They are a pretty big bird, also.

This will be the last picture of the lake.  Hope you enjoyed the pictures.  I can't believe that it is almost the end of July already, this summer seems to be flying by, must be all the things I have been doing.  I have been to Maine, and Washington DC and then the lake and that  means not a lot of time has been spent at home and when I am at home it seems to be a busy time with all the outside stuff and so on.  Busy, Busy!

Have a wonderful day!

Lake Views

Just some wonderful views of the lake, while we are there we see some awesome mornings and evenings and of course just being on the lake is just wonderful in its self.  Hope you are all having a great day.  Not much going on here at the farm, rain this morning, then the power went out for four hours, and doing the normal day to day things.  Computer time, breakfast, chores, homework, household work, you name it.

Have a good day.

Gone Fishing!

We all caught a fish this last week, and Kegan caught the biggest one.  It was a 19 inch small mouth Bass, and of course Matt caught the smallest fish, and as you can see from the bottom picture, it was pretty darn small!  It was a Rock Bass,(we think).   We didn't keep them this year.  We decided to throw them back.

Hope you all have a wonderful week.

Sunday Stills (color red)

The first picture is of my crazy son in his red vest, and red Farmall hat.  The second picture is the red barn with the lakes name and information on it.  I forgot all about the red.  Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Cookin on the Open Fire!

I thought that I would start with all the foods that I did cook on the fire this past week.  We had brats that I prepared in beer, cayenne, Worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke, garlic, and onion powder, then the hubby grilled them on the open fire, I had string beans with cream of mushroom soup, mushrooms, french fried onions, and some shredded cheese, then I did potatoes rubbed with olive oil and salt and pepper and wrapped them in aluminum foil.  I prepare the food, the hubby cooks it!  We are now back from camp and had a wonderful time, it was in the 90's and it was nice to be at the lake where it was a little cooler! Now we are back and it has been raining and cloudy, what a great time to come home!

I will be posting lots more about the vacation.  Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Vacation?

We ended up with 190 bales of hay in the barn yesterday, didn't get up to the lake until after 6 Saturday.  Then the belt on the baler broke and no where to get a new one, had to order one the other day and they said we still won't have it for a couple of days.  In the mean time we have just under half a field of hay on the ground and rain in the forecast.  Called  our friend where we used to buy our hay from and he said he would come over and bale it up for us.  They will be round bales, so, we have to make another trip home to wrap them and get them up off the ground so they don't spoil.   Then one more trip up on Wednesday because the repair man will be here to fix the washer for me.  What a vacation!  We did spend a couple of hours on the lake this morning fishing and caught just a couple of Rock Bass and one sun fish.  But it sure was a great beginning to the day!

Had beans and fried tators on the outdoor fire last night with hot dogs and Kielbasa for supper.  Tonight is lasagna on the outdoor fire!  At least now the rest of the vacation we will be out on the lake a little longer each day!  If nothing else, I will be able to post for a few more days.

Work

No, pictures, I know that it is Sunday Stills day but I didn't have the time or the inclination to take pictures of bugs.  We are moved in at the lake and woke up to a beautiful, calm lake.  We had our coffee and breakfast then headed back to the farm.  The hubby mowed down the whole 12 acres of ground and we will be baling hay today and hopefully getting most of it done.  We had to ask a couple of friends of ours if they would help us bale and they said they will.  That will make the work go a little easier, but not by much that is for sure.

Then of course my washer decided to go on the fritz.  I have to be back anyway on Wednesday to let the repair guy fix it and post my homework.  This is the first year that we will be spending so much time away from the lake instead of being out on that boat fishing the whole time.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.  I will post some pictures Thursday of the lake.  I did get my first picture of the Loon and some babies.  Take care and have a good day.

One more Day!

Just one more day and this will be my morning and all day view for the next seven days!  I can not wait.  Of course this year it is going to be broken up with having to come and do hay here at the farm, while we still have good weather with no rain or humidity, because next week around Thursday the hot and really humid weather is coming back.  We can't pick our days of doing hay, mother nature decides for us.  It will be nice to go back to the lake in the afternoon and jump in the nice cool lake after a hot day of doing hay though!  Hopefully we can get it done in just a couple of days rather than taking up the whole week!

In the mean time we are getting ready for the vacation which entails packing, doing last minute laundry, getting all school work done, bills paid.  Hope you are having a good week.

What the heck!

Don't ask me what this picture is about, I have no idea who took it or where.  I just wanted a picture to post with my words.  The weather is lovely this morning, the humidity has gone out of the air and it is sunny with no threat of rain so far!  I had the morning coffee and did chores and then I started to pull  weeds out of the grape arbor, out of the rock garden and then I came back in and had another cup of coffee.  Now I will be going out to do some weed eating and getting rid of some of the weeds out in the horse pastures.  You, who have horses know how finicky horses can be when it comes to eating weeds.

Then this evening we are headed down to the city of Lathem to go to Direct Buy and listen to their spiel.  We get a free tablet for doing it, so what the heck.  I will go and listen for that.  I have been wanting one and now is my chance.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

New Addition

Meet Curly.  He is the new family member.  We now have T-bone, Porterhouse and Curly.  He is just a little over two weeks old.   I couldn't resist when the sister-in-law offered him.  Hope you all are having a good week.  We are getting ready for Pecks Lake and doing hay in between the rain drops if possible.  Yesterday was the first full day of no rain in I can't even remember when.  We enjoyed it, too!

Fluffy

The lovely cloud formations yesterday, just waiting to brew up a storm.  Boy, did we get it, thunder, lightening and of course the rain.  Did I mention I was going to buy myself a wet suit.  The poor hubby mowed hay down thinking maybe we could sneak in some hay before it rained again.  Big mistake!  Hope you all have a wonderful week

PS:  Just five more days and its Peck's lake  week!  Hopefully we will see just a few days of no rain (not holding out much hope on that one).

Sunday Still (yellow)

The lily looks white, but it actually is a pale yellow.  I have lots of yellow flowers, so I decided that I would photograph them.  Hope everyone had a wonderful fourth of July weekend.

We got out the big grill for the family 4th and birthday party.  We had chicken, pulled pork, beans and macaroni salad.  Lots of visiting and a lovely day for the birthday of America and the hubbies sister, his is this coming Sunday!  Hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday, also.

Hiking

The sister and I went hiking on one of the Adirondack trails, when she was here for her visit.  It was a 1.1 mile hike up the mountain.  As you drive in the mountains you come across a lot of parking areas that you can go off on a hike.  This one brought us to a lake up in the mountain.  I forgot to put my good SD card in my camera and I had a cheapy one in and you sure can tell the difference.  My other HD card would of never taken this kind of picture (the bottom one).  It is hard to really see what it looked like once we reached our destination.  It was fun, and I will do it again once the rains quit (if they do).  Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Honey

First batch of honey for the season!  I bought new bottles and now all I have to do is make labels.  Sure taste good too!  The hubby and son do such a great job of harvesting the honey.  The bees are doing good.  Hopefully we will have lots more honey before the end of the season, we got fifteen 20 oz bottles this time.

Hope you all have a great day.
