Very Board

We are going to put a new addition onto the barn for hay storage and we are going to have the Amish build it for us. We are going to saw the lumber for the frame and the guys started sawing lumber yesterday. Alan is standing next to the log pile and he is 6 foot exactly, so you have an idea on how high the log pile is. The bottom picture is the saw dust that we blow onto a tarp and we bag it and I use in the horse stalls! I like it so much better than the shavings I buy at the Agway.

It was a very productive day, we had two extra guys around to help get things done. We got the whole lawn weed eated and the mowed and some boards sawn for the addition and I did some weaving. So, a lot was done.

Hope you all had a good weekend.

That is a lot of wood! How many pieces do you get out of a log?

That sure was a busy day! Nice to see how green and sunny it is for you.

Cool! That is a true from the ground up do-it-your-self job!

Wow. How exciting. :)

That is one huge wood pile. How wonderful to watch the boards you'll be using actually cut. We buy our lumber pre-cut, so we don't have this opportunity.

How cool! I wish we had trees to cut to make into boards, but not much grows here, so we have to buy ours pre cut as well.

Kelly,
It really all depends on the straightness of the log and what cuts we need. We do 2x4, 2x8 1x10 etc.

Shirley,
It was a decent day but we have really seen lots of clouds and rain, but we had to get the lawns mowed before we had hay fields.

Linda,
You sure have that right!

Kathryn,
We bought the mill because we had a lot of building to do and decided that it would be cheaper to do it ourselves and the mill has paid for itself already!

Chrystal,
That is one of the nice things about living in New York state, it does have lots of trees!

Wish someone would bring a mill and cut some of my fresh fallen ash trees into lumber.

Word verification word is meboat. And it is fitting cuz' as much rain as we've gotten I need meboat! ;-)

Sounds like a very productive day for sure. And how awesome to have the Amish build your barn addition. You can be sure it will be long lasting quality.
