VACATION blues ?

Well, just blue to start, don't you just hate it when vacation seems to be more work than staying at home and working?    I have been actually working at getting things ready for the past week for the vacation up on the lake.   When we go the hubby likes to have me do the prep for our meals with our own food and not store bought meals.  So needless to say I take everything but the kitchen sink up to the lake. We have a list saved on the computer so when this time of year comes around I print it up and start crossing things off as they get done and I swear I think the list gets longer and longer every year!!!

I have  three very large coolers full so far and that is without the cold stuff in coolers yet, which will add another two coolers just for that!  Then we have the stuff for the fishing......tackle, anchors, bait, poles, life vests and of course the boat!!!   We have the cloths that have to be packed and enough for seven days, the dogs go, so of course, we have to make sure we have their stuff all ready to go also.

Is it worth all this work?   In two words, HECK YES!!!!  We have a couple that takes care of the livestock, and we give them things in trade for doing it for us and we know our animals are in good hands!   I would rather eat my own food and cooking rather than eat out of boxes and junk food.  Yes, I will take lots of pictures of my dutch oven cooking.  The hubby actually does the cooking, all I do is put it together in the pan.  Of course he just has to make sure it is done and not burnt!

You all have a great weekend and week.  I am not as good as the sister in law with having posts already for the up and coming week.  So, this is goodbye until after next week.  I will make it up to you though when I am back on line!

Oh my goodness! I'm tired just reading about your plans. lol!
I'm quite the opposite about the cooking. With 3 kids and a hubby, I do way too much cooking at home and believe I deserve a vacation from that while we are on vacation. I bring lots of healthy snacks and maybe a few things that can be made or assembled without cooking, for lunchtime, but dinners are for someone else to cook while we are on vacation. We either go out to eat or I pack canned goods and items that can be reheated quickly in a pan. I also refuse to do dishes, so we bring disposable everything.
I want lots of time to relax, put my feet up, talk, read, sleep, go for long hikes, and just get away from everything that I typically do at home.

Enjoy your vacation and bring back some photos to share :)
