Scarlet Runner Beans that is. I don't have the picture of the greenery and the red flowers that these little beans produce in the summer months. They produce beans also. We let them dry out and then take them out of the pods and we can replant them in the spring. They are edible if picked early. If you pick the beans they will keep flowering and making more bean pods. The bean itself is very pretty! We got a good crop this year and we are going to share with the hubbies sister as she don't have anymore for next year.
I got this picture from the Internet. Hope you all had a great day.

I need to grow some of those........my mom use to and I hadn't thought of them in years.
Very fascinating! I've heard of them before but never seen them. And I had no idea you could eat them. Do you just cook up a pot of beans? Do they have a distinctive taste? They sure are pretty! Do they keep that lovely color after they are cooked?

I had heard of them, but never even thought that they really were scarlet!! How silly is that???
