The wedding went fantastically and the new grill worked out fantastic!  I will have lots of pictures of the actually cooking.  I started with the wedding, because this is the reason the hubby made the grill.  We wanted to give his niece and new nephew our version of a wedding present.   We love them both and they sure makes us feel young!  Thank you, Liz and Jade and may you have lots of wonderful years together!  We love you both.

The sunset was beautiful tonight, but it will be one of our last for the next few days.  Supposed to get rain from tomorrow until Monday.  It is not supposed to rain constantly but showers are predicted for most of it.

Had a busy day, school, shopping, (bought a new rolling pin, and aprons for the cooking Saturday), then went to the co-op and picked up some seasonings to make my own BBQ rub for the pork, and then off to physical therapy then finally went to get my hair done.  Tomorrow shows signs of a busy day also!

Hope you all had a great day.

ps: I was to let you all know that the son took the top picture!  :)

Just another day!

Not much else going on at the moment.  School is going good so far, within the next two weeks will be the first set of test for the semester and we shall see how I am really doing then!  Business Law is the one that I really don't care for the most and the hardest one so far.  I have three papers due by the 16th and 17th of October and that is fast approaching and I have to get myself motivated to do them.

My shoulder is doing good, still going to physical therapy twice a week and I go back to my orthopedic specialist next week and we then shall see how well I am really doing.  I am finally able to sleep in my bed for most of the night but still have to get up sometimes and sleep in the chair. They say it could take up to three to six months to actually get my full range of motion back.

The nieces wedding is this weekend and I was asked to be one of the girls to stand up with them.  We are also,  as you all know by now, going to do the cooking for the wedding.   Lots to do between now and then.

Other than the regular farm day to day chores, nothing else going on.  I lead a pretty boring life most of the time.   The hubby loves to see me blog but as some of you bloggers know, you get to the point  that there isn't really much to say.  I haven't been doing a lot of picture taking lately, but I think I need to get busy with the camera again!

Hope you all are having a good week so far!

Done!

The grill is done for the wedding next weekend!  The husband and son did a fantastic job!  They still have some modifications and additions that they want to do but it will wait until later.  For now it is already for us to do some major BBQing next weekend!  I even suggested using horse shoes for decoration on the handle and the air vent doors were his idea.  Thanks honey!

Hope you all had a great weekend.  This is my music, listening to all the tools and things that the hubby uses when he is in inventing mode and building mode and all around handy man mode along with being the farm hand.

A First!

Yes, I have never owned a long arm. The stainless steel one is my first long arm gun and it is a 44 magnum lever action and it is beautiful and awesome to me!  The blued one is the hubbies newest one out of many that he has already in his gun collection, this one is a 410 lever action!  I can't wait for the shoulder to heal so I can go shooting!

It was my late anniversary present.  I really wanted to go see JB and Cindy out in the Dakota's but the time and money wasn't right but HE---- yes I will take the gun any day!

Hope you all had a great day.

tomato, weeds, canna

Last year, I used the arbor as a frame for scarlet runner beans.  This year was a year that I did not have a garden but wanted some fresh tomatoes, so as you can see the arbor is being used this year as posts for the tomatoes!  With some weeds in the mix and you can see in the middle is the canna!  I had to cover them up tonight because  frost advisories are being predicted for tonight.

Hope you all have a great evening.

Surprise

We let the bantam chickens have free range and the son looked under the chicken coop and there they were!  Aren't they so cute!   Now if I could only find the eggs before they hatch so we can eat them rather than letting them become chicks!

Rained almost all day.  We were supposed to get some high winds but they haven't really come up yet, we did have 20 mile an hour winds but not the 40 to 60 mile an hour gusts that they were calling for.  Good thing too!

Hope you all had a great day!

Progress

The hubby and the son have been working hard to get the new grill done before the wedding and great progress is being made!  The hinges are in place and the grates have been made, and next is the handles and the door to load the charcoal in and a few other things have to get done but we have next weekend to finish and hopefully we get it done in time (don't even go there!)

Our building was delivered but unfortunately, it is going to be next year before we can get it built.  Time and money isn't on our side this year.  We have concrete to pour and of course the prep of the site and among other things, time!

Winter is fast approaching and it seems we are always under the gun to get things ready for the first snow that flies, like wood cut and stacked and hopefully a new line to the barn from the wood stove to my barn for heat, so I can hopefully do some weaving this winter in comfort!

Hope you all are doing good!

Homemade

The work has begun on the cooker that we are going to use for the nieces wedding.  We bought the oil drum and the hubby cut it apart and cut the trailer that has sat in the weeds for the last 6 or 7 years with a load of fence posts on it.  When they unloaded the junk off of the trailer, wasps came out every where.  No one was stung thank goodness.  We did have lots of spray ready and waiting though!

Hope you all have a great day!

Starting to finally feel like fall is here.  It was chilly here this morning, down in the low 40's, felt cool, crisp and refreshing actually!  The horses sure love this kind of weather, too.  The high for today is the low 70's, which isn't bad at all.

We have been pretty busy here, doing hay and Matt's niece is getting married at the end of the month and I was asked to be in the wedding and we are going to do the BBQing for the party.  We tried to get someone else to do it but it was awful expensive to have someone else do it; so, we decided that we would build our own and do it for her.  I will post pictures of the grill tomorrow! Well, the progress that we are making any way.  We are not done with it yet.

Then we still have wood to saw and split  for the winter months; we have to service our wood stove for winter; we are thinking of trying to get heat out to the barn upstairs, so that I can weave in the winter and not freeze, hopefully we can get it done this year.  Went and got some tomatoes from the hubbies Aunt yesterday and I will be putting them up, also.  Busy, Busy, Busy!

Hope you all have a great day.

No one said we couldn't have human faces!  We have just one of our favorite doggy pictures, one of the most nosey of horses, one of the new addition to the barn and of course the bread winner of the family and the face that I just love to pieces!  Hope you all are having a great Sunday!

Then and Now

As you can see the barn is full, I still do have two empty stalls at this time.  The hay barn does get delivered next weekend but I have a feeling that it won't get put up before we do finish getting in the rest of the hay.  Which means that the stalls will be filled, but hay!, we will have plenty of feed for the year, Yippee!   No buying hay this year, which in the long run saves us lots of money.

School has started and I think that accounting is going to be my favorite class this year and Business Law is going to be the worst!  I will prevail and still get good grades though.  This semester will leave me a lot more time to study and hopefully not be quite so stressed out!

Sorry about the posts not being more frequent but with the arm and of course farm and getting ready for school it has been a pretty lousy summer.  Hope you all are doing good and have a great day.

Not so wordless

Not much going on here at the farm, we did get another good weekend to make hay and now have over 600 bales that should get us through the winter.  We do still have one patch of ground to mow and make hay and then that will defiantly be enough hay for the season.

We finally heard word about our new building that we had bought to use for hay storage and that is to be delivered next weekend!  Now that we have all the hay in my horse barn.  We will probably use the new barn to store some equipment in for this year.  Hopefully that is the last major investment for a while and we can concentrate on some smaller buildings and do some repairs on other buildings.

Today was first day of school for the son and for me.  It went pretty good for the first day.  I think I am going to enjoy accounting, and English will be OK, I don't have to do no speeches, (yippee!)  Tomorrow is business law and principles of management.  Out at 12:25 and no school for the rest of the week!

I am going to be taking the son to take his driving test Friday, that will be fun, NOT!  Hope you all had a great day!
