Falling water
One more day of the park pictures. I still can't believe how beautiful the park was. We all had a great time and I hope you are enjoying the pictures.
I have feed to get for the animals, the son is mowing hay as I am typing, then it will be off to finish up my latest shawls. Scarves are my next project. Then I will be doing rag rugs next and towels after.
Hope you are having a great day. Enjoy your weekend.

More of Watkins Glen State Park
There were at least two waterfalls that we were able to go underneath of, and get a little wet. It cooled us off, to! I love some of the pictures, I took. I am thinking, about having them blown up and maybe mat them and frame them, also. I do better at this sort of picture taking than doing people pictures!
I am off to do chores then, get some weaving done. The hubby is just about done with the job in DC. Then he is off to West Virginia. I told him that I was going to get enough weaving projects ready so that I can go with him. We have been through Virginia and I thought it was a beautiful place. So, I want to visit again, where I can actually stay for a few days.
Hope you have a great day.

Watkins Glen State Park
The centerpiece of the 1000-acre park is a 400-foot-deep (120 m) narrow gorge cut through rock by a stream – Glen Creek – that was left hanging when glaciers of the Ice age deepened the Seneca valley, increasing the tributary stream gradient to create rapids and waterfalls wherever there were layers of hard rock. The rocks of the area are sedimentary of Devonian age that are part of a dissected plateau that was uplifted with little faulting or distortion. They consist mostly of soft shales, with some layers of harder sandstone and limestone.
The park features three trails – open mid-May to early November – by which one can climb or descend the gorge. The Southern Rim and Indian Trails run along the wooded rim of the gorge, while the Gorge Trail is closest to the stream and runs over, under and along the park's 19 waterfalls by way of stone bridges and more than 800 stone steps. The trails connect to the Finger Lakes Trail, an 800-mile (1280 km) system of trails throughout New York state.[2]
While my sister was visiting, we went to Watkins Glen State Park. It was just beautiful. I have wanted to go for quite sometime. I finally took the time and went with my son, daughter, her boyfriend, sister, and nephew. It is in the middle of wine country, also. Next time I visit I will take time to visit some of those wineries. I told the hubby that he and I would have to make a weekend of it. It took us just a little over three hours to get there.
Not much going on at the farm today. I will be posting more fabulous pictures of the state park. Hope you have a wonderful day.

Last of the Vacation
This is the last of the vacation pictures. This big guy was on the wall outside of the door going into the camp. He was pretty impressive, or she. The luna moth is considered endangered in certain areas.
Today will consist of weaving, brushing horses, brushing dogs, doing chores and anything else I deem necessary to do today. I am going to try to stay as cool as possible. (impossible in 90 degree weather)
Hope you have a great day.

Vacation (fishing)
Fishing wasn't too bad, once we found the right fishing hole. Matt's dad caught the largest one of the week. I think the only one who didn't get a fish big enough to keep was our son, (who, by the way, usually gets the largest one). My nephew was kind enough to clean and fry up, all the fish for our first dinner back from camp. (he is in the third picture)
A new week begins. I have made my list of things to get done today. Tire and oil change on car, weaving, groceries, chores, and lots of little things. Going to be a hot week this week. I am going to try not to do much outside.
Hope you have a wonderful day.

Sunsets and sunrises!
You never know what the skies will produce on the lake. The sunsets and sunrises are very beautiful on the lake, even the fog that rolls over the trees.
The day consisted of doing garden. I froze green beans, cauliflower and beets today. I also, weeded and put some dust on the plants. The bugs are eating away at the leaves. Went a got our beef that was done and loaded it in the freezer. Yum!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Vacation (ducks)
We had lots of ducks that visited camp. One had ducklings and they came right up to the dock. I was able to get a couple of good pictures of them.
Not much going on today. I am going to go get my hair done, then back to the farm and do some gardening. I need to get beets picked and either I will pickle them or freeze them. I haven't decided yet, which I will do. Depends on what is left in the larder. Then it is pick up the house and do my floors. Hopefully I get time to get out to the barn and get some weaving done.
Hope you have a great Friday.

Vacation (Loon)
It has been a very busy two weeks! We went to the lake for the first week. First couple of days on the lake, we came upon a loon and her nest! Now that was a rare treat for us.
We did hay (350 bales) during the week we were at the lake. Then we had the Engine, tractor, and toy show the weekend we came back. Last but not least, my sister came from Illinois to spend the week with me. We did a few things together during that time. I think I will need the next couple of days to recuperate from the last couple of weeks!
I will be posting pictures of the last couple of weeks. I will start with the lake pictures then the pictures of the time I spent with my lovely sister.
Hope you are having a great week. Have a great day.

A bouncing baby bread ;)
I forgot to put a towel on the top of the bread while it was raising. Where is the BOWL!
I didn't think about how the yeast would react in the summer time! Needless to say, it raised really well for me! I now have muffin top bread. I usually don't make bread during the summer months. The hubby asked me to make some for the vacation at the lake. So, I made bread. I will remember next time to cut back on the yeast, just a tad.
Hope you have a great weekend. I will post sometime starting the end of next week, when we come back. The lake doesn't have internet access for the computers. I will take lots of pictures. Have a great week.

bright
A few days ago the sun was bright pink, when it was setting. I wish I could of brought it right up and close with the camera. I love this time of year. The sunsets and sunrises are pretty awesome.
Today is filled with the farrier coming, getting ready for camping, and the normal day to day things that need to be done in the house and out at the barn. Hope you are having a great week.

Catching fish (what fish!)
Boy, it has been a while since I have blogged. Did you miss me? Illinois was great; it was great to see my family. I don't realize how much I actually miss them, until I go back. It makes it very hard to leave sometimes. The Jimmy Buffet concert was a blast. I do prefer my country music, but I like all different kinds of music. (NOT RAP, YUCK) My mom had shoulder surgery, so it was nice to be able to see her in the hospital, then be able to help out a little when she went home.
We took the pontoon boat out this past Sunday and went fishing. The son was the only one that caught any fish, a bullhead, and a fall fish. Nothing to really brag home about. The fishing was horrible. That means that next week at the lake will be a boring week. (NO FISH) We will still try. We did get to see a Loon sitting on her nest. That was a pretty nice treat. I love the sound that they make, and they are a beautiful bird.
Today is going to consist of picking strawberries and blackberries. Then, it is out to the garden to pick the weeds that have taken over! Then, it will be packing some more for the week at the lake. So much to do, and little time to do it in. Hope you have a great week.
