Well, yes, I am still posting vacation pictures. We have the flag we bought for the porch of the camp, our fishing boat for the week, our morning coffee on the fire and of course breakfast omelet! I was a little lax in taking pictures of the cast iron meals that week and you can bet that I did not cook on the stove in the camp, it was all done on the fire and I did the prep work and Matt did the actual cooking but it was all done in the cast iron all week! We ate pretty darn good! I will make this the last post of vacation and I will get back to the farm stuff . Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Happy Birthday!!

Our daughter, Tawny, turned 21 today. She called us down in NJ to tell us she got her Drivers License that took the restriction for being under 21 off her license and she is now considered an adult! Can't believe that she is 21. Where have the years gone. She goes off to University next month too. I will never forget the time she decided to get up and personal with the cattle in the feed lot. We had a cattle shed that was around 40 by 70 and we usually had around 140 cattle in the yard. I had ran in the house to get the phone and she had to of been 4 years old at the time and when I came back out she wasn't in the yard and I kept yelling for her and the next thing I hear is this little voice saying "I'm in here, mom!" and the shed was lower than the yard and you could look down into the shed from the ground on one side and there she was looking up at me with over 100 steers looking at her like what in the world is this little person doing in here! I tell you I about had a heart attack, but she sure wasn't scared a bit and I had to tell her to come over to the side of the shed so I could lean over and grab her from the shed up to the ground. Now I can look back and laugh because she was so small compared to the cattle and she just looked up at me like it was no big deal if she went to play with the steers!! Another lovely story is of when I went to make supper and she was in her room playing and I hadn't heard a word from her and went to see what she was up to and I look in the bedroom and there she was with her dad's shaving cream spraying cream all over her room and I can tell you that was a lovely mess to clean up!!

We love you and Happy Birthday! Didn't think you would get by without telling some of the mischief you got into did you?

Got lots of sky photo's on vacation. Some beautiful sunrises and sunsets! I think some of my favorite photo's are of the skies.

Well, went to NJ to clean house for the guys again, that is why no posts for the last couple of days. So, here I am with another vacation post for you.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

The Loons are one of the best thing about the lake for me. We usually get to hear them first thing in the morning and this year they decided to stay mostly down the other end of the lake because I wasn't able to hear them like we usually get to do. They are just so neat to see and hear. Hope you all have a wonderful day.

I am back online!! Vacation Pics!

Matt and his Perch!

Kegan and his perch!

Zack and his Perch! (The son's friend)

Posted by PicasaLisa and her Perch!  We didn't have a whole lot of luck catching fish in the beginning of the vacation, we caught a lot of Rock Bass but toward the end of the vacation week, we talked to the owner of the lake and he put us onto a good spot to catch fish and then we  started to catch lots of the good fish.  We picked up the son on Tuesday from his excursion into the wilds of Maine and of course the first time we take him out fishing he catches two Bass, some Rock Bass, Perch and the rest of us didn't catch a thing that day!!!   Then the next day out fishing I hit the first Perch of the day then it was Zack then Matt and the son didn't get one that day!  We sure did have fun though and that is the best part.

Part two of the vacation Pics tomorrow.

VACATION blues ?

Well, just blue to start, don't you just hate it when vacation seems to be more work than staying at home and working?    I have been actually working at getting things ready for the past week for the vacation up on the lake.   When we go the hubby likes to have me do the prep for our meals with our own food and not store bought meals.  So needless to say I take everything but the kitchen sink up to the lake. We have a list saved on the computer so when this time of year comes around I print it up and start crossing things off as they get done and I swear I think the list gets longer and longer every year!!!

I have  three very large coolers full so far and that is without the cold stuff in coolers yet, which will add another two coolers just for that!  Then we have the stuff for the fishing......tackle, anchors, bait, poles, life vests and of course the boat!!!   We have the cloths that have to be packed and enough for seven days, the dogs go, so of course, we have to make sure we have their stuff all ready to go also.

Is it worth all this work?   In two words, HECK YES!!!!  We have a couple that takes care of the livestock, and we give them things in trade for doing it for us and we know our animals are in good hands!   I would rather eat my own food and cooking rather than eat out of boxes and junk food.  Yes, I will take lots of pictures of my dutch oven cooking.  The hubby actually does the cooking, all I do is put it together in the pan.  Of course he just has to make sure it is done and not burnt!

You all have a great weekend and week.  I am not as good as the sister in law with having posts already for the up and coming week.  So, this is goodbye until after next week.  I will make it up to you though when I am back on line!

I don't know about you all that have dogs, but have you ever given them a bath when they don't want one!  Not a pretty sight!  RJ did reasonably well, but try lifting a 60 pound dog into the bath tub when he doesn't want to go into it!  All you hear is soft grumbles and growls insisting he did not want a bath!   I love it when they are all wet and look like drowned rats!  He did, had to laugh at him and of course he is giving me this look telling me that if he could he would of bit me just for pure meanness !  Have to say he did it like a trouper!  Then with all the injuries he has had I have to lift him out of the tub and try picking up a WET 60 pound dog, Not any fun!

Now we have the other dog, Jake!  Now you would think being a lab he would love getting wet and having a bath, NOT!!  He would rather jump into the pond or lake or river or you name it.   But a little ole bath tub, NO WAY.  He wouldn't get into the tub on his own I had to lift him and I thought RJ was heavy you lift Jake he is 81 lbs!!!  Of course the whole time he has his head over the rim of the tub just waiting for the chance to jump out when I wasn't looking, but I did avoid that disaster!   When I was done it didn't take much for him to get the hell out of Dodge!!!

In the end I think I am the one that got the bath more than the dogs did!!  Hope you all have a great day!

Well, today was spent getting things ready for vacation, still lots to do but the bulk of the stuff is done!  Was a lot cooler today and so much nicer!  Starting to get dry here, hopefully we get some rain before it is too dry.  I feel bad for the states that are not getting any rain.

Other than that not much going on and hate not being able to post pictures.  I now realize how much my pictures depict my life rather than the words that I write! I have never been one for writing but maybe when I get to going to school that will change!  We shall see.

Hope you all are having a good summer and have a great evening. I am off to do chores then playing with Annie and then going for a ride this evening!

Darn Computers!

Well, my mother board on my home PC has died and I have no way to post pics on the blog!  I took it to our PC doctor and it will cost us around 200 to get it fixed and most likely take a week or more to be fixed!
So, no pictures for a while but once we get back from vacation I should have lots of pictures to post and it will take a while to catch up to do it!  In the mean time I get to use the daughter and hubbies laptops to do most of my post.   This will be the only week for post and next week I will be where there is no internet so no post!

I have been pretty busy with playing with Annie everyday and weaving plus with the gardening and weeding that seems to be in abundance!    It was pretty darn hot and humid today and tomorrow more but then cooler for the next few days!  Hope you all have a great evening!

Not much going on here, went and did the weekly grocery shopping and getting the fishing license for our vacation.  Seems like the only time I go fishing is the whole week of vacation!  One more week and we will be up on the lake for the week!   The son is going to miss the first part of vacation, hope he isn't too tired to go fishing (I doubt that will happen!)

The weather is calling for some more thunderstorms tonight!  Finished chores the other night just before the storm hit, I was bringing in the chicken eggs as the first set of rain drops started!

Other than that not a whole lot going on except for the normal day to day running of the farm and regular house chores along with it.  Hope you all had a great day!

Happy Birthday!

Today is the hubbies birthday and he is the best! I am prejudice though, he makes me feel beautiful everyday even though I don't think so and he works hard to give us the life that we do have and I want to let him know that I really appreciate him for what he is and I wouldn't change him for the world!

Let me tell you a story, we have been married now for 24 years as of last Monday and the daughter had brought me flowers and a card and the card said Lisa on it and I had asked her "why she was putting Lisa on the card instead of mom" she said read the card and I opened it and it was an anniversary card. The husband had her go to town and buy the flowers and card for him and give them to me (he was in NC) . This was three days after our anniversary mind you! I read the card and he had apologized for forgetting our anniversary and I started laughing because I had forgotten it TOO! I called him and thanked him and told him I forgot too, we could not believe that both of us forgot! I did go out and buy him a new wedding band though! So, he forgave me too :) We just feel so comfortable with each other that everyday is like the very first day we met and we know we have lots more days to come!

So, with all the mushy stuff done I will say Happy Birthday to the man of my dreams! Hope you all have a wonderful day!

We are under a severe thunderstorm watch along with having hail and winds in excess of 60 miles an hour! I just about wanted to get the old bathing suit on and go out and get wet! The nice cool breeze along with the rain feels great! I did refrain though. The garden was actually getting a little dry and it was nice to see the rain but I can do without the high winds! Hope you all had a great day.

I am still here!

I am still alive and kickin!  I have just been real lazy about posting lately!

The son left last Tuesday for his trip and the first two days were a lot harder than I had expected, but now I am used to it and I enjoy having the house to myself actually!  It gets a little lonely but hey, I have lots to keep me busy, like the garden, horses, weaving, cows, chickens, dogs , cats and need I say more.

The hubby was home for the holiday weekend and we spent it mowing lawn and visiting with family.  Now he has left for NC again this morning and he is busting my butt for not blogging as he likes to know about things on the home front, so I better keep up with the blog for him.   Of course I miss catching up with all of you too so it is not just for his sake that I blog, I am actually missing all of you too!  Tomorrow I will spend the morning catching up with you and see what you all have been up to lately!

In the mean time, I hope you all had a wonderful fourth and I will be talking to you all tomorrow!
