Thursday on the farm
I just love living close to the mountains. It seems like everyday there is a different view of them. Never a dull view from the north.
We got our order of chicks and turkeys this morning. They are so darn cute when they are chicks. Just one of the chicks didn't make it. That is isn't so bad. They are pretty darn crowded in that little box and they took approximately 3 days to reach us.
We are getting ready for the lake today and will head up there tomorrow morning. Looks like we will have rain tomorrow afternoon and into Saturday morning. Hopefully it doesn't rain a lot and ruin the BBQ. You just can't rely on mother nature that is for sure.
Hope you have a great day!

Visiting
Went to see Matt's two older son's Saturday and visited one of the lakes. Was a beautiful day for it. While we were there, one of the guys there had caught a small pickerel.
Hope you have a great day.

Planting season
We decided that this year we will make raised beds for the garden. We only were able to complete one and planted, radishes, carrots, yellow and green beans and beets. We still want to build at least three more. We still have tomatoes, broccoli, green peppers, lettuce, herbs, and who knows what else we will decide to plant! (cabbage, brussel sprouts.........)
Boy, it sure has been a while since I posted the last time. I get busy living life and trying to get things done that I don't take the time to blog and see what my other bloggers are doing. This week is going to pretty darn hectic, we are going to the lake and have to get ready for that. Then we are doing the BBQ and have to get things ready for that also. Plus, trying to do the normal day to day things around the farm. Did I ever say how much I love spring and summer? (I will just as soon as everything is done)
Hope you had a lovely holiday weekend!

Strawberries
We are in the process of getting the garden pond redone. I have been working on getting all the old rocks out. so that we can put down new covering to keep the weeds out. Then we are going to put new pebbles down before we put the big rocks back on top. We might even make the fish pond a little bigger this year. We really haven't decided yet. It is a big project and hopefully we will be working on it some more this week end and will be able to make some progress.
Hope you had a great day.

Grillin Time
The hubby and son worked on making a table for the grill trailer. We are going to BBQ for our favorite lake, (Peck's), next weekend. We get to stay in one of the cabins for free and enjoy the lake Friday, Saturday evening, and part of Sunday. It will be a nice time. Hopefully we can get people to invite us to do their parties or events. That would really be nice. (like we don't already have enough to do!)
Hope you are having a great week. We are having a few nice days. It is supposed to rain, but hopefully not too much.

Official!
Graduation, went well, even though we had lots of rain and just about had to swim to the truck when it was overbut I did graduate with high honors.
The night before graduation was awards night. I received, an award for distinguished graduate in Business Administration A.A.S, Who's Who among Students in American Universities and Colleges, and the Gerard R. Roux Memorial Award in Mathematics. We had a lovely night, not one rain drop!
Then Saturday was a busy day also, I had to help with food (Ladies Auxiliary for the fire department) at an auction. It has been a pretty busy four days. Yesterday I spent part of a day weaving rugs and doing laundry. I still have one more rug to weave then I can deliver them to my client. I think today is going be a lazy day for me. I might go out and brush the rest of the ponies. I did a good brushing on Annie, but I need to really wash her tail, it is a mess and just brushing it can not get all the goo out of it!
I might even go for a ride! It has been a long time since I have been on a back of a horse. It is time to get back in the saddle and get my arse in shape! Hope you have a great week!

Cleaning day!
Yesterday was clean the cow shed. Took the hubby a little time to get halters on the big guys and then he was all set. He took them to the horse stalls while he cleaned. They are weighing pretty good, one is a little over 800 lbs and the other is over 900 lbs. Hopefully later in the fall they will be ready to put in our freezer. They are looking pretty darn good, their winter coats are shedding and they are slicking up good.
Went to see Sirocco and the trainer said that he put a hose to him after he road him and he didn't do bad with the hose (Shock)! He told me that he just needs a firm hand and he just didn't know what to do when someone tries to steer him. He will be working on that now. He said he got in the saddle and he wouldn't move, he would kick and he would just stand in place. I couldn't believe how much he has mellowed out already just from being handled by someone who is not a push over! (like me)
It was a beautiful day, in the 80's, which I will not complain about! Hope you have a great week.

Sunday Stills (wild flowers)
Not that many wild flowers out around here as of yet. But some of the lovely tulips, and daffodils are up. Things are growing and looking lovely. I love spring time, not too hot and sometimes it still is chilly but at least all you need is a sweater and your comfortable!
Still not feeling all that great, but I am having a lovely mothers day. I got roses, and a mason jar succulent plant, along with a garden worley gig! Plus, the sun is out and nice and bright! Hope all you mothers out there have a lovely mothers day!

South View....or is it the West view?
It sure is nice to see the sunset, we have had quite a bit of cloudy, rainy days. I had to make sure that I got a picture to last for a while.
Not much happening, been sick the last couple of days, seemed to hit me all at once. Today I am feeling a little better but still have the feeling like my throat is swollen and the side of the neck is sore. Was looking out at the bird feeder and saw a male and female red-breasted grosbeak. That was pretty awesome. I tried taking a picture but my camera didn't want to focus on the birds, it wanted to focus on the grime that is on my windows!
I have started on some rag rugs for a client and will have those done hopefully early next week. Next week is graduation week, also. I have three awards that I am receiving Thursday night, then Friday night is the commencement exercise for graduation. I am so excited. I have been glad that school is done, even though I do miss learning. I am glad that I did get my degree, it has helped me get my own business started and hopefully make a success of it.
Not a lot going on, just the normal day to day workings of life. Hope you had a great week.
