Cover up!

I have had this fabric for quite some time and was going to make curtains for the dining room.  I decided that I would make curtain for the back room.   The windows look pretty darn bare, and when people come to the door it is easy for them to look in the windows.  I decided that since it is way too cold to weave out in the barn I would make curtains.  I will post the after pictures when they are done and hanging up.  I actually wove the fabric when I was still working for my previous boss.

Hope you are all having a good week. Stay warm and safe.

Bee Gone

Now that it is colder, the hubby and son decided to go around the house and barn and take down all the bee hives.  This paper wasp nest was on the eaves of the house.  It was nice to have it taken down.  The husband just noticed it a couple of weeks ago and decided that it has to come down before the warm season starts back up.  I told him that he should take the ones down on the barn too!

We get lots of wasps and hornets that love to build nests in the equipment also.  Nasty little things.

We had some wicked winds today.  The only good thing was that it was for the most part in the upper 20's and not down in the single digits.   That wind can get pretty darn nasty when it is cold and then of course it did decide that it was going to snow also.  We didn't get much of that though.

Hope you have a great week.

Rant, Rant, Rant

I think my animals are better fed than I am!  I need to try catching these cats and having them taken care of!  They keep multiplying.  The only reason I haven't had them fixed is that they are wild and very hard to catch!  I can still remember the vet telling me that my barn cats are the best looking barn cats she has seen.  She said most of the time the ones she sees are not as fat!

On another note.  I saw on the news the other week that every one's electric bill had gone up and people were saying that their bills had doubled.  I thought to myself, this can not be good.  I forgot all about hearing it on the news until I got my bill today.  OMG!!!  We wonder why we are all going to the poor house, now I know!   It won't be long and we will have to pay for the air we breath.

I sometimes agree with the hubby and we should sell everything we have, buy a camper and become nomads!  As the price of things go up, the more I agree with him!   Take our guns and run and get lost in the countryside.   Sorry, but it is one of those days where I just want to take off someone's head!

We work our a........ off and what do most of us get in return, not a damn thing but more headaches!   If one thing goes wrong, it seems lots more things seem to follow.  I am the one that usually takes things and just goes with the flow and let things come as they may and do the best I can with what I have.  Sometimes though you just get plain tired of trying and throw your hands up in the air and say F----- it! Excuse my french.  I think I have ranted enough.  I do realize that there are lots of people that are so much worse off than I ever thought of being.  I am complaining because I want to and I can.  I figure this blog is for me and if I want to complain I can.

Now that my complaining is done.  I want to say, thank you for putting up with my ranting if you read this.  I sure hope you are having a better day than me and don't let my ranting bother you.  Tomorrow is always a new day!

Brrrr...

It is a very cold morning, it was -12 degrees when I looked at 6:00 a.m.. Good thing the animals have a nice thick coat of fur!  I finally broke down and let the hubby talk me into feeding round bales to the horses.  I peel off the outer round and give it to the steers.  I feed the rest to the horses and ponies.  I leave it in the barn so the bales are out of the weather, and just peel it off as I need it and fork it out to the horses at feeding time.  Works great, sometimes I think it is better than the square bales.  We stored the round bales in the barn this year to hopefully avoid any spoilage and it worked really well.

Hard to believe that the steers will be a year old in just a few months.  They seem to be growing a lot slower.  It is because they are more of a beef steer than a dairy animal.   We have found that if you feed and bring them up a certain way, that no matter the breed, they usually yield pretty much the same.  We have found so far, that we have liked all our beef if we do the same routine no matter what breed we raise for beef.

Hope everyone is braving the winter well.  Have a wonderful day.

Spoiled

Chloe, has been in seventh heaven now that she has her house back to herself.    We had a wonderful young man take pebbles and her kittens, so, now we are down to just one cat in the house.    She thinks she is Queen of Sheba!

Not much going on at the farm.  The ponies are adjusting with the other horses just great!   The steers are growing but slowly.

Woman Cave

Well, you women, we have heard of a man cave, but I decided to call my studio that is above the barn my woman cave!  That's right, why shouldn't we have one!   So, instead of posters of sexy women, I decided that I had to have the Marlboro Man in mine!   I saw this sign in one of our Antique stores that we visit quite often and when I saw it, I knew I had to have it!   So, now I get to look at him everyday I am in the barn weaving!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Good Morning

I let the dogs out this morning to a wonderful looking sunrise.  With my little windmill in the picture, sure made it a pretty picture.  The whole sky was a nice shade of pink all around.  Hope you have a wonderful day.

Now I need to do chores and get out and maybe get some new pictures taken.  Have a good day.

Money!

This is my table runner that I have just finished getting ready to deliver to my client.  It is 18 inches wide by 80 inches long.  It took me around 17 hours of weaving and finishing to complete.   It came out pretty nice.  I just hope the client likes it as well as I do.  Please click on the picture.  The pictures actually don't do it justice!

Not much else is going on, I spend most of my time in the barn now weaving.  I found a place that I can put my weaving projects at for 50 dollars a month.   I am going to do a web site and get new business cards made.  The first set I didn't put what I can weave on them, this time I am going to put a list of things that I can weave on the back of them.  I want to find a way to make cards to put on the projects, so that I can tell the customer how to take care of the fabric; but yet put my weaving logo on the front of the card also.

Hope you are having a great week.  Just think one more day and it is Friday, to those of you who have a week that Friday is a big deal.  Which for me there is no Friday, just another day.

They are done!

I finally have finished off the towels that were on my little table top loom.   I have a special person that has waited a long time for her towel.  It will be in the mail asap.   It has been a while since I have blogged and I thought I better get my butt back in gear.  I seem to get up in the morning and wait until evening to do my blogging, but I seem to never find the time.  I have decided to take my coffee first thing in the morning and do the blogging and computer stuff that I need to do.  That way it is done before I start my day.  Hope you are having a good week.

I will try to catch up with everyone for the next couple of days and hopefully keep up with you.  I hope everyone is healthy and doing well.

Pretty Picture Monday

Our Amarillas has bloomed.  It sure brings color to this dismal weather!  I can't believe we are having 40 degree weather and when the ground was covered in at least 9 inches of snow is now down to seeing lots of grass in places!  We also have wind chill advisories in effect starting tonight into tomorrow morning!  Talk about Mother Nature not knowing what she wants to do.  I have to say that I sure feel bad about some of these places that are down below -20 degrees!  I am not going to complain too much about having -5 when those poor people are having -59 degrees!

What about that global warming?!  Have a good week.

Charlie Brown

Today was the day to take down the tree.  We always love to make our Charlie Brown christmas tree during the process.  We did the same thing last year.  I started yesterday with taking down decorations around the house and taking off the rest of the ornaments off the tree.  Now Christmas is put away until the end of this year.   Hope you are having a good day.

It was pretty darn cold here this morning.  A balmy -10 degrees, it is supposed to get to a whole 20 degrees today which is better than what we started out with.  This has been a pretty darn weird winter so far, and it doesn't bode well for the rest of the winter! We  have around 9 inches on the ground so far, and we are supposed to get some freezing rain starting tomorrow night into Monday.

Hope you are staying warm if you live in a state that has snowy, cold, winters.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!  Hope you all have a wonderful new year and all your dreams come true!
