No pictures again. I sold 15 bales of hay today. The ad was on craigslist, and the guy said he would be here around 12 or 1. Well, he showed, then proceeded to look at the bales for over 15 minutes complaining that they looked stemy. Then he asked if I would go lower in price being as he had cash (like I would take anything less), I said no, that I had already lowered the price once. Then we got the bales loaded and he asked me if I had it all tallied in price (like I wouldn't know how much it all would cost). I tell you, I was not a happy camper by the time he left. If you don't want the stuff don't take it, but don't bit....... to me about the price and the way they look! The guy drove about 2 hours here. He could of came before bringing his trailer and decide if he wanted the darn things before hand!! I think he thought that if he hemmed and hawed long enough, I would change my price, or maybe it was because I am a women. I think the hubby is the one that will be doing the negotiations next time, and no one is coming to pick it up unless he is home!!! I know you always try to get the person to lower the price, but once it is negotiated don't be an ass. Then he calls me and tells me he has a trailer for sale if I want to buy it. (the son told him we were looking for one) I would not buy it from him even if he was the only guy who had one! We sold round bales a couple of years ago and had no complaints or problems. I guess all people aren't easy to get along with.
Enough on that, now, other than that, my day was pretty darn good. Hope you have a great night.

Some men always try to push women around...good for you standing your ground:)
Welcome to the hay business. We have become so cynical...so many scammers and tire kickers and downright not very nice people out there. We get them all the time and they go after Ralph too, as gruff and intimidating as he is. Had a guy call him a liar the other day over our price, which hasn't changed in two years and is not negotiable. Let's just say that that guy won't be buying any hay here. I feel your pain, I really do.
We TRY to buy local but last year there was none to be had. We ended up getting better (and cheaper) hay, sight unseen from 300 miles away...we're keeping the lady's name on file.
Ugh what a pain, selling is sure a problem. We have run into the same thing. But I agree once price is set its set just take it and move one.
I hate it when that happens. I just say take it or leave it, and walk away. A trick my husband taught me.
