Bars on the windows of the Federal Reserve Bank, we were supposed to have a tour of the bank but they wouldn't open it to the public because of the things going on in Boston.
This is the Wall Street bull!
Show just how narrow the financial district of NYC is.
In the Financial Museum, they had this sold gold monoply set, it was pretty awesome.

9-11
The pictures do not do it justice, but this is the 9-11 memorial. The tree in the last picture is the only tree that survived the collapse of the towers. They replanted it on the site of the memorials. It was very awe inspiring to see the site. Like I said, the pictures don't do it justice, you have to actually be there to appreciate the memorial.
I loved visiting the city, I would hate to live there but to see some of the sites was a very nice experience for me. Hope you all are having a good week.

More New York
Brooklyn Bridge.
This is the picture of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Brooklyn, New York, I am on the Manhattan side of the city.
A ship that was moored at one of the piers, as you can see in the next picture, it was the Peking ship.
Another part of New York is South Street Seaport, which is a historic area in the New York City borough of Manhattan, located where Fulton Street meets the East River, and adjacent to the Financial District. It features some of the oldest architecture in downtown Manhattan, and includes the largest concentration of restored early 19th-century commercial buildings in the city. It has a view of the Brooklyn Bridge. At the entrance to the Seaport is the Titanic Memorial lighthouse(which I didn't get a picture of).
The Seaport's heyday, 1820 to 1860. by the late-1950's, the old Ward Line docks (Pier 15, 16, and part of 17) were mostly vacant.
South Street Seaport Museum sits in a 12 square-block historic district that is the site of the original port of New York City.
I didn't take pictures of the historic area because of hurricane Sandy, a lot of the shops and buildings were vacant and not open, pretty sad to see all the buildings boarded up!

Trinity Church
Yesterday, I spent the whole day in the financial district of New York city. I went with the Business students and the Wall Street club. We left at 6:30 in the morning and got back around 10:30 last night. It was amazing. I will have a few days of posts from the city trip. Here is number one, this is the Trinity Church in Lower Manhatten, it is a historic, active parish church int he Episcopal Diocese of NY. The parish received its charter from King William 111 on May 6, 1697, its land grant specified an annual rent of sixty bushels of wheat. The first Trinity Church was constructed in 1698. According to historical records, Captain William Kidd lent the runner and tackle from his ship for hoisting the stones. Following his 1789 inauguration at Federal hall, George Washingtion attended Thanksgiving services.
The third and current Trinity Church was finished in 1846 and at the time of its completion its 281-foot spire and cross was the highest point in NY until being surpassed in 1890 by the NY World Building.
On July 9, 1976 Queen Elizabeth 11, visited Trinity Church. Vestrymen presented her with a symbolic "back rent" of 279 peppercorns. Thereby, in 1697, King William111 gave Trinity Church a charter that called for the parish to pay an annual rent of one peppercorn to the crown. during the September 11, 2001 attacks, as the 1st tower collapsed, people took refuge from the massive debris cloud in side the Church. Falling wreckage from the collapsing tower knocked over a giant sycamore tree that had stood for nearly a century in the churchyard of St. Paul's Chapel, which is part of Trinity Church's parish and is located several blocks north of Trinity Church. Sculptor Steve Tobin used its roots as the base for a bronze sculpture that stands next to the church today. Trinity Churchyard, at Wall Street and Broadway, in which Alexander Hamilton, William Bradford, Franklin Wharton, Robert Fulton, Captain James Lawrence and Albert Gallatin are buried.
The picture that shows the doors going into the church, has a spot on the ground where it shows that Queen Elizabeth stood.

New Gadget!
We went to get gas in the hubbies company truck and stopped at a new antique shop in town and look what we bought! It is an antique Crystal coffee grinder, it was missing a lid (which we supplied) and the bottom glass (trusty canning jar, which we supplied again). Other than that, it is in great shape. We just had to go right to the local grocery store and buy whole bean coffee and give it a try. It worked beautifully and the coffee was amazing. Hard to believe the difference in taste from ground to whole bean coffee. I am now hooked on fresh coffee. We even got a deal on it. The guy wanted 70 dollars and we got it for 40! We did buy some other things, like a cast iron dutch oven with lid and no legs(mine all have legs). Now I have a dutch oven that can be used on my stove and in the oven.
Hope you all are having a great day.

Tractor
This old tractor is our favorite toy.. the other day we were talking about all the old equipment and trucks that need to be taken to the junk yard; and decided that this tractor was going to stay in the family for awhile yet, that we aren't quite ready to get rid of it.
The nephew came by today and brought his fancy sports car and gave me a ride in it. I told him after he has had it a while longer that I would love to take it for a drive myself! I have to say though that I am still a truck kind of girl, give me a truck to drive and I will be happy. I like my car but the day we get to go get a different and newer truck will be my day!
Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Jack Frost
I think Jack Frost made a visit to my house last night. It took about 20 minutes to de ice my car this morning. Then we had rain most of the day, and when I got out of school the sleet was coming down pretty darn good. It was one of those days that you wish you could stay indoors for the day in your comfy clothes with a good book.
The hubby had to stay an extra day down in the city to go to a day of physicals and safety stuff. He just loves not coming home and spending a day doing things for work that he does not get paid for. He hates wasting his day when he can come home and do work around the farm. Being as he is only home for two days a week as it is. I thought I would do the complaining for him.
Supposedly us women are good at complaining. So, I thought I would give it my best shot :~)
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Porterhouse
Yes, this is the new calf and his name is Porterhouse! We now have our steers for the next round of beef.
It has been raining the last couple of days, and boy, what a mess! We even had thunder and lightening. The pastures and the fields are becoming muddy swamps. It will be awhile before we will be taking the tractors out in the fields.
School is winding down, only a month to go and will be done until next semester. I am taking investments, computerized accounting, macroeconomics, aerobic dance, Intro to biology molecular cells. It will be a heck of a semester, but thank god I graduate in December.
Hope you all had a great day. I even went to get my tires changed from snow to regular.

Rain
Spring has sprung. It rained pretty good today and I brought the horses in the barn so they could away from the mud. With the warm weather had to come the rain! How long the warmer weather lasts, we don't know. The weatherman is calling for cooler weather with some freezer rain and sleet in the very near future! Yuck.
We now have another calf for beef and I will post pictures hopefully tomorrow. All I have to do is remember to take the camera out when I do chores. Hope everyone is doing good this year so far.
Take care and have a good night.

Ingenuity
The hubby is sure handy to have around! Rather than going and buying a new wheelbarrow he makes his own! The broke the other one by hauling wood in it to the stove, so now they have to worry about breaking this one!
Off to school this afternoon, I will be in class until 8:25 tonight. I go to sign up for my last semester of classes today first. The science class I wanted to take is all filled, I wanted to take it online and they have all the seats filled. Now I have to go to the college to take it and that means another semester of a full week of classes with no days off. Monday, Wednesday and Friday until 2 and Tuesday in class until 5 and Thursday in class for just one hour from 8 to 9. Yuck, I am sorta of rethinking about going further, I am beginning to think that working is better than going to school!
Hope you all have a great day.

Sunday Stills (Trains)
It has been a while since I last blogged and I apologize. Seems like life has taken over my time. I spend around 90 percent of time on school work, which doesn't leave me much time to take pictures and blog. The hubby is big on trains and he dragged me out to take some pictures. I am glad he did, I enjoyed taking pictures and running around the countryside trying to get pictures of a train. I was able to get some but not as good of pictures as I would've liked.
Hope everyone is doing good. I am still blogging just not as often. Hopefully when summer is here and school is done I will have more time to devote to blogging. Take care.
